because from my friend wedding. He kissed his bride on her forhead instead of kissing her on lips.

i think for the respect and don't embrace her in front of audience. he kiss her on her forehead as a sign of respect toward her. also for the respect of her father who is watching.

The groom cannot kiss the bride in a Muslim wedding because it is a public display of affection. He may do so in private only. Muslims have respect for their families and others who are watching. This is how the religion and often culture is.
Whereas go to a Christian wedding and it would be strange if the couple didn't kiss. It's kind of like when a Muslim man and wife are sat at home with their parents, they're not going to put their arms around each other and watch a movie, whereas that's normal in a Western non-Muslim environment.
Islam only allows intimacy between a married couple in privacy with none other than themselves present.

Haya (shyness) is an important part of Islam. A private matter between husband and wife is not meant for public display. And what could be more private than kissing. So what your friend did was right. He could have even avoided kissing her on the forehead publicly.

Kissing between married people(lip kiss)as you call it,is an intimate act, which should not be displayed in public. It looses it's flavor when we do it in front of others, for any trifle reason just for show.
