I am considering caring for a disabled lady. I was told that I would work 5 days a week, 3 hours a day but she isn't sure about the pay. I live in California.. Does anyone know about this? Is mileage considered? I would clean, take care of her personal hygiene, etc. She is unable to do for herself.

When I did it in Alaska I made $22/hr. That was in 2000 - 2001.

If you are doing this privately I would stop and consider some of the legal things before going on. Things like if they could sue you if something bad should happen. If you like this type of work I would consider going through an agency instead of being on your own. We live in a time when people will sue for any reason. I don't know it was just a thought.

it depends on how much money there is alloted for her care. some people do not qualify for alot of money to be able to pay someone to care for them. government and all is involved in alot of cases. also depends on where you work. mileage is usually only considered if you have to take them to outside the home appointments.

It depends on your experience. Probably 11-12 an hour.
