Why is it that people with degrees are increasingly asking me to explain things a little simpler for them, or look at me with their head sideways like a dog does when it hears a high pitched noise, should I use vocabulary that they are unfamiliar with?

These folks went to college, I dont get it!!

I have but a high school education.

You should not be so judgmental, after all if you know anything about psychology you would know that the person in trouble or in the situation often has blinders on and can not see everything as clearly as the third person will often be able to easily diagnose and offer suggestions. How many questions in here have you asked??? Judgment is a very easy thing to do however understanding makes you a better person..smile it's okay

Well, these very people THINK they are very smart because they can solve mathematical problems easily and hence they are SMART in their way. These are only theoritical problems, but when it comes to emotional and mundane things, they become lost. They are so caught up with their theories that they forgot that they are also mere mortals like us who have to solve daily problems, and they may seem easy for us ordinary mortals to solve, they are seemed to be difficult for them, because they have not been doing it however easy it is for us.
The worst part is that they THINK they know everything when they actually don't. All because they think it is too mundane and easy and they don't practice them. Even in mathematical problems, give them the most difficult and they passed with flying colors but try them with the easy ones and they fail miserably. That's why we have so many Educated Idiots nowadays who can't even tie their shoe laces properly.
By the way, I have an MBA degree and I'm no idiot.

Maybe your supercilious use of unnecessarily abstruse vernacular leaves them feeling as though you are condescending.

People who go to college don't necessarily study the dictionary. Usually they study something specific, such as business or art. Having a strong vocabulary is more the earmark of someone who likes to read or picks up on words quickly than of someone who has an advanced degree.

If you have enough money to pay the bills, you can get all kinds of papers, certificates and diplomas. This does not mean that you are intellectually gifted. It simply means that everything is available at a price. On the other hand, there are lots of uneducated people with high I.Q.s that make millions of dollars anyway.

I suppose there could be a considerable difference for each individual between how much you are taught, and how much you actually learn. Just because daddy pays your way through college, doesn't mean you've actually made your education worthwhile.

The American education system has managed to completely dumb everything down so that everyone can pass, even if they're a complete moron.

It's because in college they teach us how to memorize facts, not how to think for ourselves.

The non-idiots are the ones who already know how.
