A whole bunch of people. There were hundreds of versions (books and gospels). Then they voted on which books to include in what is now known as the bible.

Makes you wonder what would have been in there if they voted differently.

It depends which "Bible" you are referring to. If you are referring to the "New Testament," it is a whole separate issue than the "Old Testament." It is unfortunate, but most "intellectuals" or historians like to deny the possibility of their being an existence of a higher power, so they had to figure out some insane roundabout way for it to have have been written. First off, the original 5 books of the bible, from Genesis, are the main body of text of the original bible. Historians like to say that it was composed by a few people, and amended over years, and that the stories came from an oral tradition which lasted many years, yadda yadda. That isn't a logical explanation, because all of the commands given in the original bible were very demanding, and it is hard to believe that people would have blindly accepted everything in there because some good story teller told them they or their ancestors experienced something incredible. People like to say its illogical to believe that a higher power could exist, and have spoken to man. I think its even more illogical to say that hundreds of thousands of people will blindly accept a great burden, both financially and societally, as was expected of them in the bible, simply because another person told them to. It is much more logical to say that God spoke to Moses and he recorded it all, either all at once, or possibly in a few separate sessions, and then transmitted everything to the Jewish people. The Jewish people had the Bible for over 1000 years about when the New Testament came along. This is not my area of expertise, but I believe it was the Romans who adopted the then small and less demanding Christian religion, as opposed to Judaism, and decided to make Jesus the basis of it. They based themselves on the original, but added a whole new body of text, chronicling Jesus.

Noone knows whats been left out or added or just made up. They just found a part that got left out bout judis. No one knows who "wrote" the books that were included in the bible or where they came from.

What Christians call the bible was invented by Roman Emperor Constantine in 325 CE (ad) when he created & authorized the NIcene Council to pick and choose which books they wanted in the book they invented to support Constantine's brand new Universal (Catholic) religion.

In 397, they finally decided to make it official and it became the "bible."

the monks had nothing to do with the writing of the bible.
it was inspired & commanded by god to have the bible written.
he chose those specific ones to write all that's in the bible.
god told his chosen people exactly what to write.
so to answer your question....god instructed the bible to be written.
