and NO im not exaggerating... shes a prostitute, my dad has brain damage and cant retain any new memories or rather he only has long term memory. People are coming over to his house and breaking everything and stealing his stuff. I saw him on christmas and he said that he hadnt ate that day, Hes looking very thin and unhealthy. She scratched his face up for twenty dollars. I cant even bring my children over to visit their grandpa because I am afraid of the type of people that are there with him. My dad is a nice guy and he lets people take advantage of him... He thinks they are his friends when truthfully they are just using him... I am really worried about his safety. He could end up dead because of the people who are at his home. My dad has even been in trouble and in jail for drugs. Is there anything I can do to help him before he ends up getting himself killed? He is going to end up dead and I feel helpless.

my brother and sister have even tried taking him to court and getting custody over him, because they feel he cant take care of himself which I agree with, but Im torn because they are wanting to take and sell his home and put him in a place where he can be taken care of, my dad thinks they are just trying to take his home and his life away... although I support their decision I hurt for my dad... anyway no one showed up for court and they dismissed the case against him and he is still living in the same situation... im simply torn to pieces over this!!

Sweetie, don't give up. I am so sorry that your family is going through that. I can't imagine the pain that you feel. What is important at this point is to get your father from that destructive environment and get him the assistance that he needs. I don't know your beliefs, but based on my own personal experiences, Jesus is the only one that can deliver your father. Pray! You don't have to talk like Shakespeare to get his attention.

Your siblings are right...if you are that torn up about it, talk to your siblings about it, and take personal custody of him. If his short term memory is affected the most, then it won't take him long to adjust after the first trauma of the new situation, whatever it may be. Either way, you need to love him enough to get him out of that house and away from those people. Sometimes being an adult requires you to make adult decisions. POA, Custody, File Restraining Orders, Sue...Do whatever you have to do to keep your Dad safe, especially since he can't do it for himself right now.

Maybe you could try to convince your dad to move in with you, rent out his house and have that income go into a bank account for him which you have Power of Attorney over. That way you could help him to help himself.

Do you know she's a crack whore? With proof? Call the cops and have her arrested. File a complaint about the abuse and keep pushing it, don't let your dad interfere either. You have to do what's right.

File a complaint with elder abuse program. They will investigate and find it true and stop it. Look for the agency in your area and report it.

Go to social services and tell them about the abuse and his lack of care and offer to be his guardian
