I kept an empty shoebox on the dining room table, into which I would place things as I thought of them, and which I would seal and mail on Fridays. Some of the things I included were: clean handkerchiefs which I had ironed so they smelled of home, a tape recording of my voice as I read his letters (he liked to hear me laugh and cry!) Immodium (they ALL get upset stomachs), new underwear, magazines and sometimes books, his favourite crisps and a special little present in each box to be saved for Christmas day or his birthday, because you can't send large packages, and not everything gets there!
If this 'a' soldier is not 'your' Soldier, please don't clog up the mail. They all have Wives, girlfriends, Mothers & Father's, siblings and friends wanting to send things and the mail planes are always full and are not top priority. I would get twenty letters all at once! They are extremely well fed out there and they have access to all the basics they need, what they want is word from the people they love, to know that we are well and safe and thinking of them.

A bullet to the head. I have no support for brain washed sheep that think it is okay to shoot off missiles and kill 70,000 innocent civilians and go on rampages in the cities. We went itnto Iraq because there were suppose to be weapons of mass destruction and that Saddam attacked us on 9/11. Well there were no weapons and to this day there is no evidence that Saddam had ties to Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda hated Saddam as much as they hate us. So why did we go into Iraq again? There are greater threats out there (Iran) with more evil tyrants such as in Sudan. Why Iraq?

I was over there in 03. I am sure it has changed quite a bit since I was there, but just receiving a letter helps motivation and morale. If you are thinking of a care package- I would send his or her favorites snacks. It is the thought that counts. God bless our Military!

food, jerky, candy, video games, good movies, only booze if you know the person, and know they won't end up in trouble, forms of entertainment, I liked fruitrollups, flashlights, fans, Interesting letters sometimes, but lots of people don't take the time to read them or write back and aren't really apprecitative of the things they get sent. So the best thing to do is actually talk to someone who is there and ask them what they would like.

Letters, cards, toiletries, games, sunscreen, gum....and your sincere gratitude and best wishes. I sent 36 boxes during Desert Storm and one of the soldiers that lived in my area that received a box came to meet me. It made it that much more real. I wish I was in the same position financially to do the same thing.

No alcohol! They are not allowed to have it, besides non-alcohol beer etc. I sent cookies to my hubbies unit, brownies, love-letters, made photo-surprises for my husband, a nice little "beach-box" with 3D pics from us, laying on beach-towels. Cards, Videoclips from home, E-Mails every day and I called him, our Cat wrote him how much she misses his scratch....
They appreciated everything what is not Army related, the wanna go "menatlly" away for a second when they open a box or a letter, just let your phantasy run like crazy. If you need ideas just ask me, I had new ones on a daily bases

Your heartfelt prayers for a safe, prompt return. Some good sunscreen would be helpful too.
