if you have been going out for 8 years.. he should understand you enough to know it will not repeat as in his first one.. i dont know how he is such a pan%^

If he hasn't popped the question to you yet, he never will. 8 years is a long time, and you both know each other reasonably well, but just because his ex has scarred him for life, does not mean that you are the same. It is up to you if you want to keep deluding yourself that your assurance can change him, or you can move on and find someone who is stable and committed to you. Don't ruin each others lives if your relationship is not going anywhere. Can you picture yourself growing old with him?

You have to let him know what you want.
8 years is a long time to figure out if you want to continue with a person.
If not, then you have to ask yourself how long you are willing to wait.
You shouldn't push him into a marriage if he doesn't want it;
but at the same time, you shouldn't deny your own needs.
If you REALLY want to get married to this guy, tell him to
"**** or get off the pot".---And get counseling to help him dump his baggage from his first crazy marriage.
Whatever you do, don't spend another 8 years hoping.

I would look into your state's restrictions on being ''married".
'cause I know in the state of WI if you are together for 5 yrs your are legally married by the state.
And don't rush him....just love him where hes at and maybe the ring will be in your Christmas Stocking this year!

You have to be practical in life. According to you you wish to convince him that you are the right person for him and wish to help him. My dear just leave him alone without even hinting him that you want to help him. As a man, he has his EGO. He does not want help from you [Even after 10000 years Adam is still a cave man today, and treats Eve the way he treated her before. A woman has to be smart, not to hurt his ego, and win the game. Please play "dumb" and get the satisfaction that you are in control of the situation. Learn from a Hindu woman the ropes on "how to control a MAN".

why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? He has the perfect relationship with you as far as he is concerned. He gets the ### without the commitment. You may have screwed yourself over by letting this go on for so long as it has.
