I wish I knew!!! I am sick of people who post here saying they have no money to take the pet to the vet, but clearly they have a computer and internet access. Some people feel they are owed a free ride. I work at a cat shelter and there are people all the time that come in and want to get an appointment for the low cost clinic, you they are driving a new SUV and are dressed very nice. They just feel that they should be able to see the cheap vet and not have to pay regular vet prices.
Even the "poor" people that come in.........they always put out the cig before coming in the door. If you can afford to smoke, you can afford good vet care!!!!! You can also afford to get your a** off welfare and food stamps. I really tick me off that you can get all these services and still smoke, have a computer, keep having kids, and have many pets. Pets are a luxury. If you can't afford them, you shouldn't have one and you should not expect the rest of us to feel sorry for you whan you can't afford the vet!!!!!!!!!
Even if you do DHPP every three years, you still need to get the puppy series. If you take your unvaccinated 4 month puppy and give him one vaccine, and then think you will repeat it in three years, your dog can get diseases. The inital series has to be given. You can start a series of 2 vaccines at any age, but lets not give the people the idea that bringing home a new puppy that has had one vaccine will not need another one for three years!!!!!!! That is totally incorrect and could be deadly!!!!!
But yes, a 4 way vacine will be fine for most dogs.

Because people are selfish, ignorant jerks. Maybe they're never had to watch puppy die of parvo or distemper. Maybe they just don't care or think that it's just a scam by vets trying to make money. It has nothing to do with how much money they have - I've seen older folks on fixed incomes spend the last dollar of their own food money to take their beloved dog to the vet. When I watch Animal Cops, I can't believe how some people can treat their dogs - just leave them tied up in the backyard with no food or water and move away...

It's called being selfish. I know what you mean. People say they don't have money to take their pet to the vet but then they turn around and buy such things as cigarettes and alcohol. I am not putting down people that smoke and drink. I am a smoker myself; however, I also put money aside to make sure my pets are taken care of. People should not have pets if they can't afford to take care of them. Pet emergencies arise sometimes so people have to understand that when they purchase a pet, it is just like having a child. They need medical care too. I totally understand where you are coming from.

The duration of immunity on vaccines is many, many years. Vaccines are causing side effect in a lot of animal anymore.
Read Wisconsin University website.

Feed stores and co-ops still sell the DHLPP. That is not the new recommended protocol. Vet universities are now doing DAPP and only every three years.

Because they are ignorant to the fact that dogs can die if they are not vaccinated. I work at an animal hospital and people bring in dogs that have parvo and are dying and they complain about the money it costs to treat them when they could have just spent $13 for a vaccine. I dont think its fair to the animals to have a caretaker that is so stupid and worthless if you dont have money to spend on the animal dont bring it into your house!
Sorry if I seem a little bitchy but it is a subject that i feel strongly about

Because people are under educated about animal care... They wouldnt let a human puppy (baby) go without shots but they think animals are exempt from disease? Go figure...

Seems as if many people don't hold their pets in as high a regard as people.
