a little difficult to put a silencer on napalm or scatterbombs ,the screams of the dying would be heard anyhow.
or try putting a silencer on a howitzer,
and who needs to be saved ,the guys dropping the bombs are far away from the action.
on close combat you dont have to worry they got silencers on automatic hand guns

Several reasons. The backpressure damages & jams the weapon. The extra length makes it hard to use the weapon in close quarters, like urban areas. They reduce accuracy. For the weapon to actually be close to scilent, the ammo uses much less powder, which again creats jams & won't penetrate much. And, they don't continue to work for very long. Besides it's never as if we're the only ones shooting, as soon as a firefight starts it's pretty obvious it's going on. As far as money, they are actually quite inexpensive to produce. There are many other things I'd like on my weapon than a scilencer.

Silencers, actually mufflers, Reduce the power of the weapon as well as extends the length. It is one more thing to maintain in a combat situation. Mufflers only work on small arms. Special forces and snipers do sometimes use mufflers.

The post about silencers gumming up and getting noisier is true.
And they are expensive.
And they reduce muzzle velocity, which is to say they make the projectile slower and less lethal.
So except for covert operations and commando raids, silencers are seldom used with military weapons.

Silencers, contrary to what you have seen in the movies, cannot be used continuously to shoot dozens of people. They "burn out" very quickly and are no longer "silent" after a couple shots. They also create back pressure on the weapon and are detrimental for that reason.

Yeah....that is an excellent question....I would like to know!!! It sure would save a lot of men and women....but they did it for us and for the others to help them stand on their own. I would think they probably do have some weapons with such silencers...only we just don't know it....you think??

Not all combat situations require a reduced noise, also money might be a factor.
