Yes I do. When you think about it, 10% is not too much to give to the work of GOD!!! But to be honest this is why I now tithe...
I prayed one day as to the importance of thithing, right before I was about to attend services at a church I wanted to visit. I was just kind of thinking, like, why do we really have to tithe??? When I got to the church, the sermon that day was about tithing!!! A very thorough and informative sermon, but what was more important was that God knew I had that question in my heart, and He led me to visit a certain church on that day to receive an answer! I became a member of that church that day, and have been very happy there! And I have seen my church give so much to so many people, people who are not even members of the church, that I have no problem with tithing or an additional offering if I have it. It's not something that's forced, but if you do so whole heartedly, I feel that you reap the rewards.

I don't give my tithe to the church and here's why:

I give my tithes and offerings where God impresses me in my spirit to give them. Malachi 3:10 says: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse (treasury), that there may be meat (both natural and spiritual provision) in mine house (family)........etc. In other words, God wants us to carry out His will, and it takes money to do it.

Both the body of Christ and the house of Israel comprise God's family, and there are many ministries and para-church organizations that are doing great works that most local churches either cannot do, or are not willing to do. To such organizations go my tithes and offerings, for they are on the frontlines, and in the heat of the battle.

God's heartbeat and will are clearly seen in the scriptures from the book of Genesis to the Revelation of Jesus Christ. I give where God tells me to give, not where man tells me to give. And I give freely and according as I purpose in my heart, not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Below are some organizations I highly respect and recommend:

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (www.ifcj.org)
Total Christian Television (www.tct.org)
A.V. Publications (avpublications.com)
The Berean Call (www.tbc.org)
Jews for Jesus (www.jfj.org)
Chosen People Ministries (www.chosenpeople.com)
Jewish Voice Ministries (www.jewishvoice.org)
John Hagee Ministries (www.jhm.org)
Life Outreach Ministries (www.lifetoday.org)

There are many, many more but these are some of my favorites.

Any Church claiming to be Christian MUST require a tithe (10%). I do pay a tithe, and it is because it is a commandment from God to show respect and gratitude for His help.

Yes. I give 10% of my salary every week. I do this so that my church can help those in need, We are sending people to Louisiana to help the flood victims of Katrina this summer, we are sending enough money to dig 3 wells in third world countries. We help anyone in the church who needs a hand. We are there for the community in which I live. We supply coats, Hats and other clothing to the needy all year long. We send Christmas gifts to the children who have no chance to receive them. We donate our time to many charities, and money if needed.
I do this because I feel that it is what God would want me to do.
I am crucified with Christ. I adore him and will praise his name in any way that I can.
I am fortunate to belong to a church that does many good deeds.
I am a proud Christian. Bless you.

No, I donate to the contribution box when I have money. I do not pay any person; the donations go for utilities, and the bills acquired by my place of worship, or to help with the world-wide preaching work. Never did the Bible say that Jesus or ANY of his followers were required to give 10% to the church. In fact, Jesus said: "YOU received free, give free." (Matthew 10:8) The Bible also says @ 2Corintians @:17: [We are;] for we are not peddlers of the word of God as many men are, but as out of sincerity, yes, as sent from God, under God's view, in company with Christ, we are speaking".
Titheing was a part of the Law of Moses. The priests had a full time job working at the Temple, making sacrifices and keeping it clean, so it was mandated that the people contribute 10% of their money to support the priests and their families. Contributions were also made to the Temple, made out of their desire to support true worship at that time. The Law was an agreement between God and the ancient Jews. Jesus Christ fullfilled the Law when he came to earth and gave His life in sacrifice for Christians.
The Bible also says : 2Thessalonians 3:7,8,10--"For YOU yourselves know the way YOU ought to imitate us, because we did not behave disorderly among YOU nor did we eat food from anyone free. To the contrary, by labor and toil night and day we were working so as not to impose an expensive burden upon any one of YOU. . 10 In fact, also, when we were with YOU, we used to give YOU this order: "If anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat."
Religious leaders are not to be 'paid shepherds'. They have NO right to require any money from their followers.

yes, my church does wonderful community outreach programs. it helps many people in need. a budget is posted annually and we members can see which charities received what. it's very rewarding knowing that people are actually being helped.

whether it's a commandment or not is very debatable like everything else in the Bible. i would rather folks tithe because they WANT to not because they are COMMANDED to. shouldn't you want to help people? following a commandment seems very insincere.

Yes I give always because the church would not be able to survive without them.

I give to my religion (not a Christian, so its not a Church) because I support what I believe in.

God has given me so much, it only seems fair that I give some back! :-)

Yes - because I wish to.
I've never been asked to.
I've never been looked down upon those times when I couldn't.

If one feels they have to pay to attend a church they should find another church.

I thought that was a law that was done away with. We are suppose to support our chuch, but to have to give 10% was done away with, is my understanding, but read it for yourself to make sure you get the same message from God.
