I am also walking and doing yard work for exercise. Is there anything else I could be doing to lose the weight faster and stay motivated?

1 (First and foremost!!!). Eradicate all sources of *processed* sugar INCLUDING substitutes like aspartame (Diet soda actually deters the dieting process.)

2. Drink a ton of water and run like hell. Well, lol, actually you won't have a problem with the water part, it's just that you will need to find a way to CONSISTENTLY have an exercise schedule. For me it's easy because I can walk down to my local lake and jog an easy 5k every other day.

3. Make more time for quality sleep. This includes eradicating all sources of caffeine.

There. Easy. 1, 2, 3, right?

Ask your doctor what would be good for you and if you are healthy enough and in good enough shape yet to do what you are doing. Do you have any health problems that could cause problems from you doing such a low amount of calories? Actually, women are supposed to have about 1500-1800 calories a day to lose weight. Any lower is too low and is a sure way to end up going off of the diet and getting more discouraged from being so hungry.

I would recommend going on Herbalife products, if you can afford them. But, then again, one serving is about $1.70 a meal, so how could you not since you would be replacing 2 meals a day with very good for you shakes and eating one sensible meal a day?

These are just my opinions and findings after dieting for many years myself. I have lost 40 pounds by cutting back and exercising more, but not cutting back THAT much to where I was starving myself or being hungry all the time, which can cause you to overeat from hunger.

If you want more information about the program I suggested, go to www.herbalife.com or contact me and I can tell you more. In the meantime, I would suggest upping your calorie intake to about 1500-1800 a day.

Good luck!

Walking and doing yard work is okay for now. However, you will eventually reach a "plateau." In order to keep losing the weight, you must kick it up a notch every other week, pushing yourself a little harder and a little harder. Of the utmost importance is weightlifting. Use weight that is heavy enough to cause you to really push yourself. I would suggest getting help from a trainer. See if you can find a trainer that you could schedule to come to your home for maybe 3 sessions to help you develop a workout in the privacy of your home. I would purchase a set of 3, 5, 10, and 15 pound weights. Also, your cardio workout will eventually need to go beyond just walking. Perhaps you could do a run/walk combination to keep your energy levels up and really break through the eventual plateau you may reach. I would also suggest that you read "Body for Life," by Bill Phillips. There are people highlighted in the book that weighed in your range, and lost the desired weight through healthy eating, serious cardio, and weight training. I think this book would be great for you, plus, the weight loss success stories are inspiring. Keep up the good work.

IMO that's too low on the daily caloric intake. Gradually lower your intake so you can adjust and not shock your body. Try cutting out the bad stuff first, then replacing w/good choiced. If you don't eat enough, you will put yourself into starvation mode and that is not good if you really want to lose the weight. Eat a balanced diet and cut out all processed carbs and sugar. Only drink water and get yourself some 5lb weights and build your muscle. It will increase your metabolism. Try walking several times a week, building up to power walking or walking hard/fast then slow back and forth *that's good for you. Best wishes on your journey. I know you can do it!

you should check with your doctor, but I'm not sure how safe only eating 1000 calories a day is. but other advice would be to drink lots of water (no soda or juice) find a friend to work out or be a weight loss buddy, keep a food/exercise journal, do some weight training. keep in mind losing 100 is a big life style change and it is recommended that you speak with your doctor if you want to lose more than 30 lbs.

Try some low-impact aerobics. That will help you up your heart rate (which helps to burn fat, without making you lose lean muscle). You can search around on the internet, or even go to your local library to find videos of low-impact aerobic workouts. The reason I recommend low-impact is, judging by your weight, you're a little out of shape. The low-impact will help get you started in the fitness habit, without putting you through too much stress or strain. After you lose some weight, and start getting a little more in shape, you can step it up to some medium-impact aerobics, then high-impact, or whatever you feel you can handle. Try not to take it too fast, though. If you do too much, too soon, it can discourage you, and you could give up.

I wish you the best of luck!! Congrats on your goals, and I hope you do well! :D

I suggest you run about 20 to 30 minutes, 3 to 5 times a week.

Eat only healthy food and drink enough water. No meals soon before bedtime. Stick with the program, because it's going to take about a year for you to lose 100 lbs (you can only lose about 2 lbs per week). If you get very tired, you might need to eat a little bit more.
