Most portable dvd players these days can play DVD-Rs, MP3 CDs, etc..etc. I just want to know if they can play data dvd discs as well. Like how CD players can play data discs now.

For example, the dvd player here (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7656672&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat13900050018&id=1134702472192) works with a bunch of different formats, but I'm unclear on if it'll successfully play a data disc.

Often not.. but philips I think so..
Depends if your Dvd have the function..

Yes if the video is coded properly on the disk. It will also show images prolly, try it...
