We usually treat the hours from noon to 3 on good friday as the time of his suffering. The bible says that it was getting near to sundown when they decided to use the spear and end it so it would not go into the Sabbath.

According to Luke 23:44 it was the 9th hour of the day. If they considered 6 am as the first hour, the 9th hour would be 1500 or 3pm.

Gospel of Mark 15.33-34
33At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" (New International Version)
33About noon the sky turned dark and stayed that way until around three o'clock. 34Then about that time Jesus shouted, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" [f] which means, "My God, my God, why have you deserted me?" (Contemporary English Version)
