What we did when we got our kitten was to VERY, VERY gently tap him on the nose with our index finger and say "No bite!". It worked really well. My cat is now 11.5 years old and he never bites, not ever. The only thing he'll do if he feels really annoyed is open his mouth and gently put his teeth around a finger, but never bite down.

Hi! I tried the nice things..."no-no, don't bite" and this didn't seem to impress my male kitten at all... I tried the tap on the nose or the flick of his hear... these didn't work either. So, one day, while in the midst of a nap (mine), he bit my nose! I was so miffed, startled and hurt.....that I picked him up and bit (gently) his ear!! He yowled and sulked for an hour or so, but he has never bitten me or anyone again and he's 9 years old now. Cats and other animals are a bit like people....what works for some doesn'e phase others. It's trial and error. After we are in training for awhile we usually figure it out ... making them feel incredibly accomplished!!!

My cat bit allot when he was a kitten too but he has grown out of it a fair bit now. As animals do not understand abuse to smack or even tap a cat on the nose will achieve nothing, simply make a loud noise or growl at them when they do this as they do not like sudden noises and will eventually get the message.

If he is teething, it just needs to take its course. If it really bothers you or is something other than teething, GENTLY hold the scruff of his neck and put him on his back. Stare him down until he looks away. By doing so, you are asserting your position as alpha and letting him know the behavior will not be tolerated.

Don't worry this is normal for kittens and cats to do. Just keep your fingers, toes, ect. out of his mouth. Not being snotty just that is how they play and how they learn ti catch dinner in the wild.

When he tries to bite you...redirect his attention to a toy. He will eventually learn your hand is not a toy.

This may sound cruel and/or nasty. But once we had just taken my puppy out of the bath [which she hated] and so [duh!] I had to pick her up [which she hates, as well]. Then, she decides to bite me and I almost drop her. Then I bit her back [on the ear] and she never bit ME again!

try getting something nasty tasting. Like nail polish remover or they have special sprays at pet stores for puppies that are teething.
