There are no home remedies for head lice.
You MUST kill the insects, kill and REMOVE all eggs, get rid of sheets and pillow cases that came in contact with infected person. Fog your entire home for insects and do it again a week later. If you don't treat the home, there is no reason to bother treating the hair. They will come back again and again.
You MUST go to the store and get a product designed for this treatment. Please don't try to do this with a witches brew of nonsense.

You really should go to the drug store and talk to a pharmasist. There's alot more to getting rid of lice than treating your hair. You gotta wash all bedding and pillows and stuffed toys and vaccum your car seat headrest and dry items in the dryer on high etc. Not to mention you have to use a special product and a special comb to remove the lice and "nits". You can use vinegar I think to come through hair and get rid of lice and nits-the acid is suppose to kil them. I wouldn't mess around though. I'd just go to the drug store. RID can be bought at a drug store and not only gives you thorough instructions but also can protect hair for up to 2wks from reinfestation

There are no fast quick ways to get rid of lice.
From wikihow:
Be prepared to fight a potentially long battle. Adult lice and immature lice are pretty easy to get rid of, but their eggs are much harder to get rid of, and it is with these that the most problems crop up. People can think that they are rid of lice, but then get another case of lice from just a couple of eggs. Constant vigilance will be necessary to win this battle.

Before beginning any treatment:
• Test a small scalp section for allergic reactions to the medication
• A vinegar rinse helps loosen nits
• Wash hair with regular shampoo
Treatments for applying to the scalp and hair include:
• Olive oil or petroleum ointment to smother the lice.
Cover the head with a shower cap, four to six hours per day for three to four days
• Olive oil (three parts) and essential oil of lavender (one part)
• Herbal shampoos or pomades
• A mixture of paw paw, thymol, and tea tree oil
• A combination of coconut oil, anise, and ylang ylang
• Other mixtures of essential oils
• RID Pure Alternative, a nontoxic, hypoallergenic, dye and fragrance-free product
• A spray containing phenethyl propionate, cedar oil, peppermint oil, and sodium lauryl sulfate (LiceFreee)
• Cocamide DEA (a lathering agent), triethanolamine (a local irritant), and disodium EDTA (a chelator),
(SafeTek)is both a nontoxic pediculicide and a conditioner for combing out lice and nits Cutting the hair or shaving the head may be effective. Aromatherapies also are available. Infested eyelashes and eyebrows should be treated with petroleum jelly for several days and the nits should be plucked off with tweezers or fingernails.

Baby Oil or Mineral Oil. Soak your hair in it for 10 minutes. Lice are a species of the mite family that breath through their bodies. The baby oil literally suffocates them and they die. This remedy also works on mites on cats/dogs.
