Shouldn't all things be done to edifying, or for spiritual growth? (1 Cor. 14:26)

I have come on boards like this before answering questions against Christianity for apologetics but know people don't really listen anyway. What makes people reconsider is seeing God's love in you, and they can't see that over a computer.

All that the debate does for me anyway is get me annoyed and focused on head knowledge rather then growing in my relationships with God and others or becoming more like Christ.

So what's the point in being on boards like this, or at least for this section?

I asked the same question, but there may be someone who wants a serious answer, and is sincear. I avioid most of the questions that gender strife, but if I see one individual who is sincear, that is worth it to me.
I see what your saying though, and thanks for the admonishment! And scripture.

Well, if you send the Holy Spirit along with your posts in prayer you can plant a seed that God will give the increase to. Also, I've received several thank-you's from people who were grateful for the Scriptural insights I was able to share with them and I've also encouraged other Christians who post here. Sure, for the most part the work here is unrewarding but Jesus preached to the multitudes knowing that while many are called, few will be saved. In addition to that, it's good exercise to consider what God has said about different questions and to look up the verses and read them yourself.

I have answered a few questions on this board from some people who were really confused.

They sincerely wanted to know the answer to a question they had about the bible or their beliefs. Most of the answers that followed mine (not all, lots of Christians here) were posters telling them how stupid they were for believing in God.

I'm not saying they would have never gotten the answer, but what if they only heard "how stupid they were because God doesn't exist"?

To expand your mind and learn from someone's opinions.
God wants you to experience the world and have relationships but keep him above all others.
But, you are headed in the right direction because you can differentiate between the life God wants you to lead and the life that all the others are leading on this board.
You can always learn something from someone, so search the other topics and read what people are asking and answering.

Oh yes. God forbid you should read something on here that actually makes you think for yourself... just stay off in Jesusland where all is pure and good and none of the scary ugly stuff can hurt your little brain. See if you can't get one of your Jesus buddies to dump another bucket of sand on your head and everything will be alright again.

Christians come on the net because they are in search of the Truth, which they have so far failed to find in their brain-washed state of worshipping something that can neither be understood nor explained and remains a puzzle that can be so easily solved if you do as commanded, "Seek and you shall find!"
This the era of Islam and no amount of wishful thinking and bombs as big as Mac trucks can stop what Allah has promised to those who are blind and deaf and dumb.
You better start reasoning with yourself for it is said that there is none so blind as he/she who will not see.

I like to think that some of my responses here may strengthen a weak brother or sister somewhere in the world.

I also like to show-up the irrationality of atheists (who feel that Christians are retarded and brain-washed). I may not convince THEM but there may be someone who is undecided.

I do spend a lot of time in "mathematics and science" also.

I don't believe this section is for you to do preaching or converting. It's for discussing different view points.

I'm an atheist and a satanist, but I think everyone (except bigots) can be here. Bigots ruin perfectly good questions and answers.

Well said...

I find though that every now and then, a person or two do listen...

And reasoned rational answers to skeptics' objections that can also strengthen the faith of other Christians (who might be following the discussion).

Cordially,
John
