Those are bedbugs, and are usually a mark that it's time to do some major cleaning. Unfortunately, during certain seasons it can be difficult to get rid of them without scouring your baseboards and moving the bed out of place to clean thoroughly around it, etc.

you may have bed bugs....
The bite is painless. The salivary fluid injected by bed bugs typically causes the skin to become irritated and inflamed, although individuals can differ in their sensitivity. A small, hard, swollen, white welt may develop at the site of each bite. This is accompanied by severe itching that lasts for several hours to days. Scratching may cause the welts to become infected. The amount of blood loss due to bed bug feeding typically does not adversely affect the host.
Rows of three or so welts on exposed skin are characteristic signs of bed bugs. Welts do not have a red spot in the center such as is characteristic of flea bites.
Some individuals respond to bed bug infestations with anxiety, stress, and insomnia. Bed bugs are not known to transmit disease.

Look up MRSA. This is a new resistant staphlococus infection. Does it get a little nodule of puss llike a mini boil? MRSA often acts like spider bites or bug bites - but is really an infection. Unfortuantely it is resistant to antibiotics - so many people have not been able to get rid of it. Try to get your doctor to take a culture and check for resistant staph bacteria.

It could be bed bugs I know this sound silly but they only come out at night and if your mattres is more than 4 years old it is possible you should also get new pillows that might help because they live inside of those things.

BEDBUGS.... you would probably do good to get rid of the matress. saw a program on discovery once that really freaked me out, the reason matresses are so heavy after a number of years is because they live in the matress, die there after eating on you and poo there too.

Call an exterminator. You have bedbugs. They will multiply quickly and are very hard to get rid of.
