Depression can affect every individual on earth it does not have any qualms about what you look like or how you think you look. Depression can heighten ones own self-esteem issues or it can develop into a manic disorder. In any case the fact that you are getting treatment that has helped to balance your chemical imbalance is very admirable. Do not be afraid of a brand name be afraid if you refuse treatment, You deserve to live the best life possible and you should celebrate your victories because you have overcome obsticals that most would wither and shy away from. Bravo, kudos and congrats! Keep up the great job!

Umm.. not really not a shocker, that's a really shallow statement...anyone can be on antidepressants doesn't matter how big small pretty smart short tall you are depression doesn't discriminate, maybe you should reword the question. You can even be glamorous and be a f-ing mess inside. Also, another shocker what if someone saw you and didn't think you were so sexy etc..its all matter of opinion..beauty is in the eye of the beholder so what is your idea of sexy? maybe in another person's eye....ugly.

I have guys running after me all the time and I have some issues that are starting to mess with my life to a point where its starting to get dangerous. Everyone has issues. A lot of people have medication for them. I'm not shocked, impressed or anything like that. In fact, now that I think about it, I had no emotions reading what you wrote. Its normal.
If you are trying to shock people, walk around naked.

Don't feel alone...there are lots of people who take antidepressants and many more that should.
If you are feeling good than be happy that there was something that helped. It is just a biochemical malfunction in the brain just as diabetes is a malfunction of the pancreas and nothing to be ashamed about.
This website says this many people have depression occur (and that is probably a low estimate).
In any one-year period, 9.5 percent of the population, or about 18.8 million American adults, suffer from a depressive disorder. Depression can strike anyone regardless of age, ethnic background, socioeconomic status, or gender.

I'm not at all shocked, I have to take them,it's to keep the two chemicals in my brain leveled out cuz I don't make enough on my own,my body doesn't that is. I know many, many people that have to take them. There's all kinds of anti depressants out there also.Your ego is a killer. You not the only person in this world.

First of all, I can't see you so I could care less what you look like or how "shocked" I would be.
Next, many people are on anti depressants and you would never know.
What I am amazed at is how you can type something like that without shorting out the keyboard from spewing your mountain dew all over from laughing at yourself.

Girl Im on the same boat. Im tall and slender too. I get surprised looks when people find out that I suffer from depression. I guess you and I are the type of chicks that guys see and think to themselves, wow, these smart sexy ladies, they are hot baby!
Yes....that's what they think if they arent color blind, and so our motto for them is, "if it doesnt kill you, it makes you stronger, and I suffer from depression."
Thats why we stand, and they see us succesful at this. And we move on and they are admired, and we do this because we are depressed and they are surprised yet once more.
Smile, youll move on and do glad. Dont let them drown you girl keep swimming!

none at all. The most 'together' people are on medication or see counsellors or have a a bad marriage etc. I think you are labelling yourself though as someone who 'needs meds'. Why not label yourself someone 'who is open-minded enough to accept help'. Put a postive spin on it. It is what you believe it to be. I am not shocked

I'm not shocked because so many many people are on those pills. I don't believe pills solve problems. I perfectly well know that many people on them appear as you do.
