I mean, it looks like a pie, tastes like a pie, and has the texture of a pie. What's up with that?

Speaking of pie, what is your favorite kind of pie?

Excellent point. We should petition the Cheesecake Factory and request that they change the name of their restaurants. :)

BTW, my favorite is pecan pie.

Cheesecake is called a "cake" because the indredients are more like a cake than a pie. My favorite pie is pecan pie served hot with a BIG scoop of vanillia ice cream OR Lemon Meringue.

But cheesecake doesnt really have a crust like pie. Ive never seen a cheesecake recipe calling for pie crusts. Make sense?

I like cheesecake name better but they can't change the name I have actually seen cheesepie like with crust and all and not a pizza. I didn't have the guts to try it! :)

My favorite is strawberry rhubarb but very few people make this well. :( I love traditional apple pie served just warm with homemade vanilla Ice cream.:)

Cheesecake sounds more appealing than cheese pie, but I get what you are saying. My favorite pie is chocolate silk.

Nope. Pie is supposed to taste better warm, and cheesecake tastes better cold. Also, it doesn't have a crust! I don't think it tastes like a pie, theres no filling and it certainly doesn't taste like pie to me!

I disagree, cheesecake is actually a custard. But we can't call it custard pie, 'cause that's another recipe.

Boysenberry and peach pies are my favorites, warm with hot tea and no ice cream.
