Cruelty is when someone does something for the sole purpose of inflicting pain or torture.

Animals that are prepared as food are not treated with cruelty. They are killed quickly and cleanly. Torture takes time and if someone plans to eat, they don't have time for it.

Often, some animals that are being prepped to be eaten, are treated better than other animals and given richer foods and healthier treatment. Just think of the poor ol Thanksgiving Turkey!

Bottom line, this is a matter of customs in other lands. If you are there, you have to expect to see things like this. Good luck.

i wonder how india feels that we eat cows... something they consider holy and godlike...

yet moreover i consider the more grotesque foods we eat... what kindof people eat food that makes them unhealthy and does nothing more than destroy our health..... at least the cats and dogs provide some kindof nutritional value... and at least you know for certain in these restaurants ,THAT THEYRE CATS AND DOGS!

also-is it cruel?:
think of this- killing them alive at least you know that it was once living pretty healthily and had no noticeable sores or abnormal swellings... especially since you get to choose the animal...

and usually animals are killed for food anyway, which isnt really considered cruel... and like someone said before its a quick and painless process.... and being in this restaurant you would know that...

yet here in america we dont have that as a common luxury and youd be surprised what gets passed by the usda... and ends up in our "happy meals". and who knows what kindof torture and cruel animal killings occured for our food... hasnt anyone seen the videos out there...peta has some... meetyourmeat.com has some/...and its disgusting... especially the way our food had lived...

consider the facts... the cats and dogs are just for their necessity... they are nothing more than like the animals we eat... it just so happens we as americans keep them as pets and feel some kindof compassion toward them... and feel something is wrong about it because of this...

but... in a survival sense... wouldnt you eat a cat or dog you didnt know... its only an animal before its a pet.... and you gotta eat.... do you value some moral repulsion over your own life.... especially for an animal that could care less about you anyway, doesnt even know you...in their evolutionary instinct they use us simply for scraps of food... and get away with it by providing appealing to our emotion and instinct to care about them....
doesnt mean all pets are like that but in an evolutionary sense they all started out that way...

whatever people eat them usually dont have the same luxury of choice as we do... its a matter of survival.. and id rather survive than live by some rediculous standard of eticacy...

-this is not my true opinion it is just something i felt the need to say to make people think-

in North America THOUSANDS of cats and dogs, kittens and puppies are euthanized every day.. their bodies thrown in the garbage.. simply because there are too many.. and idiots are not spaying or neutering their pets.. Where are the animal rights groups indeed..

Asias problem isnt cruelty to animals.. its too many people and not enough food.. at the present rate of population growth here.. in 20-30 years we will be eating cat and dog here too.

Noworst than eating a cow or a pig. We keep live lobsters and they are cooked fresh. If it is normal for someone to eat dogs and cats thats what they do. I do not like the thought but I eat beef, pork, chicken and fowl.

What if we were to take the millions of cats and dogs that are put to sleep every year in the US to feed starving people in poor countries? Would that be a matter of animal rights, or of human rights?

Chinese and Koreans are one of the lowest forms of human beings to inhabit the earth. They will eat anything, including humans. They are also especially cruel, cheap and want everything for free. They should be kicked out of USA ASAP so they can go back to eating dogs, roaches, humans etc.

I don't see the difference between that and lobster? Of course that's inhuman but what about the poor little lobsters who get boiled alive, I think that's worse, at least the butcher kills the animals before he cooks it

No, Is it cruel to eat a pig or cow?
Every country's culture and beliefs are different, what might be strange and cruel to us is normal to the other.

Key word being, "Asia." Not the United States of America. "Asia." Different laws and different customs. I don't think PETA has any jurisdiction in Asia.
