I came up with this little phrase while writing an essay for my high school government class about the War on Terror back in 2003. I think it single-handedly bagged me an A. Call me arrogant, or whatever, but I thought it was so clever, I commited it to memory.

An unjust peace that permits tranquility at the cost of one's dignity and sovereignty is not worth the blood, sweat, and tears that were spared to keep it. Such a condition is the shackles that make us slaves to the whims of others. True peace, being not only the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice and liberty, can not be granted by the mercy of one's enemies. It is borne of the hardships and sacrifices endured by those willing to fight and die for it. Such a goal is the only cause worthy of so arduous an effort, and the only reward worth so high a price.

What do you think?

one you have an awesome pic.

two i think you would be a great politician, as i had trouble with a lot of the statement but i know you are saying if we have peace, there would not be any war or bloodshed.

since that was for your government class i can see why you had an A for that class. i was lucky i did not have to take civics class in high school since i moved away from the state that required it.

if you go into govt, just remember it is not your money to spend, it is our taxes that the govt spends.

good luck with whatever type of job you go into.

I think it is the perfect phrase to justify what the terrorists did. They believed so truly that America was oppressing the rest of the world, denying others around the world any justice or liberty, that they were willing to sacrifice and die for their cause.

Your quote is pretty fancy but welcomeenergy makes a good point. How are the terrorist so different from us? Couldn't a terrorist use this same quote to justify the bombing of NY.

I love America because it truly is the greatest country. We are a strong and honorable nation. Revenge is not dignity.

This is a good "phrase" as you call it. I can tell you've put a lot into it.

I agree with what the message of your phrase is. Many civilians seldom think of those working to forge a solution to a country's foreign problems. Well done.
