Thats because the cereal is rather hard and rough when you eat it the roof of the mouth is scraped. This happens with most rough hard foods.

Because the cereal is generally course in texture, and since the "roof" of the mouth is of smooth epithelial tissue, you will find that it causes microscopic to minor bruises there.

This happens to me to, hence why I don't eat captain crunch anymore.

I don't know, but I've always wondered the same thing because the same thing happens to me any time I eat it, too. Maybe it's all the highly concentrated sugar and large amounts of chemicals used when they process it?

It's so hard it probably scraped the top of your mouth. I didn't think anyone in the world ate that stuff.
