When she wakes up and cries, if the crying is for more than 10 mins or so, you take her in your arms and you rock her or sing to her until she falls asleep again. when you're holding her, you can soothe her by slowly rubbing her back. Keep her with you until you think that she's soundly asleep again and put her back to bed. If this does not work, once she falls asleep with you, let her stay snuggled with you, this way she is comforted and reassured.

Well I would have to say that what you should do may vary depending on the age of the child. If the child is under a yr. old the the sent of the father or holding and cuddling may help. This may also work with older kids too.My advice if the child is older than one is to watch a movie with her and try to get her mind of of missing her dad.Maybe you could have her sit on your lap and watch tv and eventually she will probably fall asleep.good luck

Give her a big hug, offer to stay in the room with her, snuggle her on the couch without the tv on. All of these would be okay if it was my daughter

I agree with somebrowning. But the tricky part is letter him/her cry for ten minutes without going in to his/her room.

But I'd wait even longer. Because once you go in there, he/she has won. And he/she will cry again to get you to come in there next time. It's hard, but kids will cry themselves to sleep -- and learn that it's okay.

Good luck.

Just sit with her, reassure her and help her relax. Being a little kid is not easy and you are the one who can help right now.

Hug her and tell her that the sooner she goes to sleep, the sooner she'll get to wake up and see her dad.

As annoying as it may be, try not to seem angry or annoyed.
