With Deism, you keep the God you love. You just remove the man-made excess like ritual and tithing. And you also remove the guilt you have for being what you are. And you can see the universe with a better understanding and with more openness, not clouded by words people say.
Heck, you can even still go to church and support them. But you don't have to fight for what you believe in anymore. You don't have to force a belief on unwilling people.
Do not be concerned with an afterlife but rather be thankful for the life you have. Even if you are the saddest or most crippled person in the world, at least you are born a human being. What a privilege that is! And at least you can experience things a person can experience, even the simplest things in life are worth living for. Imagine there being no life, no air to breathe, no water to drink, just floating rocks in space. God made not only you but also other people and things which took forever to do, but its all so very simple and balanced

To those that want proof of a God, I can't say what God is or if it is a living thing or if it's dead. I am however very thankful for it creating me and my universe. Even if it died in the process, or if it lives within every particle today.

Denying the existence of a Creator is like denying existence.

When you start thinking for your self you realize that all that god and religion stuff is some thing people fed in to your mind. Become a free thinker and dump the god stuf and be a good person just because of you self. You don't need a religion to be a good person!

For those of you who are unsure of what deism is. Deism is a belief in a god who created the universe and then stepped out of it...if one were to convert to deism they would convert for nothing at all. I am greatfull that they deists were way off because God is so good.

It would take some good old empirical proof to convert me, me son. You and every other christian denomination out there. Actually, isn't Deism just the hardcore belief in God without reference to reason or revelation? Is deism not that old-fashioned kind of religion that's on its way out?

Hey, I've been a deisit since I entered the age of reason, which for me was 15. I had the coolest World History teacher in the world who influenced my life greatly- one being on this issue.
Spread the gospel man- just kidding.

What would make me a deist?
A "god" that you can prove exists.
Additional:
Clearly, "erik_tilton" is in need of rational thought.
Claiming "god exists, prove it doesn't" is a claim of "true until proven false". In a court of law, "true until proven false" is "guilty until proven innocent". I somehow doubt "erik_tilton" has the balls to live by the same rules he wants for his "god".
Conversely my asking for proof of a "god" is "false until proven true". That's the same burden of proof as "innocent until proven guilty".
"erik_tilton" is ethically and morally inconsistent, dare I say hypocritical.
Newsflash for the ignorant: Admitting it's up to the believer to prove there is a "god" does not prevent theists from believing. It only prevents them from claiming it as fact. But, of course, to admit that also means giving up any pretense of claiming absolute morality or authority, something the religious do not want to do.

God is the one who made tithing. You could never convince me that God isn't who he says He is because unlike you He can't lie.

Don't tell anyone but the founding fathers invented the word "Deist" to avoid using the more correct term atheist.
But, don't tell anyone else, okay?
BTW, I'm an atheist.

"Get thee behind me Satan" - Sounds like the same offer Satan made to Christ when he offered Him all the kingdoms of the world, but it would cost Him the eternal life for millions of people.
