From my letter printed in amNY, 6/8/06:
When I read about Ann Coulter¹s new book "Godless: The Church of Liberalism" and her diatribe against the 9/11 widows, I thought to myself, "Where is the Martin Luther King, Jr. of the Christian Right? Where is the guy or gal who fervently believes in and fights for his positions, yet offers his hand in reconciliation to his opponents, hoping to change their hearts?" ...Is there any right-wing follower of Jesus out there who isn¹t condemning the left wholesale?

I thought of columnist Becky Miller of Oregon, and of John Dawson, author of Healing America's Wounds. It sure isn't Ann Coulter, Jerry Falwell, or Pat Robertson. So, who is, or could become, the MLK of the Christian Right?

Friend of God: I welcome your prayers. I regularly watched the 700 Club during the 1980s. My impression is right. My negative impressions of the Religious Right come mostly from Robertson and "Christian" radio. I love Jesus, and I think the R.R. has hijacked him for greed, power, and pride, like the 1st-century Pharisees hijacked Judaism.

MC H: good illustration about Gandhi. However, I believe there are sincere right-of-center Christians who can't stand--or are suspicious of--the extreme, and want to co-ordinate with the Left Side of the Body. They just don't know yet to speak up, or haven't woken up yet. BTW, Powell eventually left Bush. (Maybe it'll be Powell?) Also BTW, I'm Black, too!
