I figured someone would respond with kjv only babble when I saw your question and I'd like to speak to that for a moment. I began studying from the Greek New Testament over 25 years ago and am quite fluent in the language. The NIV isn't perfect, but the kjv is far from it. There are numerous points where the King James translators deliberately altered the reading for various reasons. You'll notice that most of the scripture quotes I post are from NIrV, the New International Reader's Version. This is the version I gave my 7 year old daughter to read. The reason is that the Bible was written in the common, mostly pretty simple language of its day and our translations should mimic that simplicity.

To your question...
I liked seeing the beginning of 1st Peter in an earlier post, so that one is taken. I guess maybe a snippet from Revelation would be good...

Rev 2:10 Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.

I guess the why is pretty simple. Whatever we have to suffer through will not be long and in the end, we will be with Jesus forever... tough to beat.

You have asked an oxymoron question - I can't give you an inspiring quote from the Bible and from the NIV - as the two are not the same thing. Now a quote from the Bible, which is King James Version, that I can give you that is inspiring is Psalms 46:10 Be still and know that I am God.

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.

It inspires me to keep my eye on the prize, GOD. It lets those who suffer to lie back upon the strength of HIM and let HIM be our guide, and renew our weakness. Of which, I might add, comes in many forms,

And I am fortunate to live in any area that is home to a variety of large hawks, falcons and some eagles, so I have a visual to remind me.

Hope if this was a searching question, that it helped. I will pray so.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

-1 JOHN 4:7-8, NIV

I find this verse inspiring because I think this world could use a little more love instead of all this hate I see.

Phillipians 3:4 If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless. 7But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ.

1 Peter 1
1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To God's elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood:
Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Praise to God for a Living Hope
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Matthew 9:9 - "As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. 'Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him."

It gives me the shortest and best definition of Christianity. It's not about religion. It's about following Jesus, learning from him.

If it weren't for this verse I would be in hell.

Matthew 18:21-22

The Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"

Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."
(seventy times seven)

This inspires me because as a born again believer in Christ I still screw up everyday in some way. It is so wonderful to know that God will forgive us again and again as long as we repent and accept his forgiveness.

Thanks for asking : )

What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is with us , who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all-how shall he not also along with Him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against those who God has chosen? It is God who justifies
