That is why Jesus came, to do away with the old law.

When Jesus came to earth and died and then rose again He fulfilled not only prophecy but the law that was given in the Old Testament. The sacrificial law was a prophecy itself of Jesus. When He died the veil in the temple was torn from bottom to top. This was a symbol of our ability to go to God on our own without a priest and that our sins would be covered by the blood of Jesus instead of a sheep.

There is a difference between the Mosaical laws and the Levitical laws...The Levitical priesthood was established as precurser to the Ordainment as Christ as the Messiah of the world. It had to do with sin atonement and offerings, the circumcision, cleanliness, food preparation and consumption and as well Holy Days. Every law that had to do with sin atonement, circumcision and cleanliness, actually all of the laws were corrupted by the ruling powers of the Jews ie; The Sanhedrim. They were made meticulous and overburdensome...with the priesthood becoming pious and overly judicial. Mosaical laws were established for the benifit of those that belonged to God. Most importantly the 10 commandments as written by God Himself. Other laws were for health benifits, relationships, avoiding idol worship, comporting oneself and etc. They are still followed by many denominations of Christian churches. Jesus said I have come to fulfil (complete) the law..not to abolish it. So we are directed to the scritpture to learn these laws and follow them..

Food laws
Sex laws
Financial Laws
Marriage Laws
Benevolent Laws
Health Laws

They still apply today and if interestingly enough..if these laws were followed by the general population...there would be much less desease, divorce, crime and suffering...We are still under the law..how else would we know that we are sinning? As well, these laws are now written on our hearts...for instance...

Why is it culturally accepted to eat pork but no the other forbidden animals in Leviticus..ie; monkeys, rodents, reptiles and etc.

Why is incest, rape, beastiality and molestation of a child frowned upon to the point of hatred and disgust but homosexuality is okay?

People are up to their necks deep in dept to the point of causing suicide and divorce...even whole countries...are deep in debt and bancrupt.

Desease is rampant because of the things we eat, the way we have sex, blood products, IV drug abuse and how we deal with dead animals, our cattle and live stock and etc..

Our judicial system is fantastically unjust and lawsuit happy.

We promote lying, falsehood, deciet and disloyalty in soap operetic television and violence, uninhibited sex, rape and murder in all others...nothing pure, wholesome or rightious is prevelent.

When one of these moral themes is addressed in the media..especially movies..people often flock to see it...love, endurance, family, sacrifice, kinship, rising above extreme adversity...etc.

Then there is child, elderly and disabled abuse, gambling, prostitution, political corruption, waste, pollution, envy, strife, materialism and cynism.

Every single societal ill comes from disobeying the Laws of God...and if everybuddy were doing the will of God...or even the majority of everybuddy...then these horrific injustices and overwhelming conditions would not exist. Why don't people see this...or at least all those Christian hating Bible bashers? Its so dang obvious...Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

No one? Most churches try to abide by some of those laws, but they usually pick and choose which ones they can control their congregations with.... Usually folks who attempt to follow the law are denying Christ by definition... (Even though most folks have no clue about what they are doing...)

Technically speaking, the Bible is broken up into different covenants and the covenants including the levitical ones were fulfilled by Christ. Once a covenant is fullfilled, there is no need to keep performing requirements of that covenant.

When Jesus came to earth, He changed a couple things from the Old Testament, such as offerings, and death penalties for sinning (adultery, etc). The laws from the New Testament are the laws we need to abide by, and that includes the ten commandments.

Because Christ came as the fulfillment of the Old Testament laws and gave us two new commandments that summed up the laws and the prophets teachings.

Simply put, because they are archaic and are made by religion. Laws are a function of the government and the US government is not allowed to have any part in religion. That bit is in the 1st Amendment.

Because when Jesus came to earth as a human,he fulfilled the law. Matthew 5:17: - "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." We are no longer under the Mosaic law covenant. Jesus said the only two laws Christians are to follow are these: to love the only true God with your whole heart, mind and soul and to love your neighbor as yourself. __ Matthew 22:37-40- " Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Are you advocating the use of the one verse repeated incessantly about "it's your duty to kill gay people"? Or are you pointing out the hypocrisy of those who use Lev. 13:18 and then ignore all the other "laws" because it would negatively affect the gay-haters? Your question does not specify which.
