I think the real question is...why do mean people become Christians? Usually, not always,it is because they know that they have problems and need divine assistance with them. It is precisely because at some level that they realize that they have problems being nice that they seek God to help them to be able to relate to others well. It just takes time.

Christians are human and imperfect just like everyone else. Unfortunately many Christians are mean and give Christianity a bad name. Many feel that they are superior to others because they are Christians which is unfortunate.
For about one year I was very miserable working in a Christian organization. I was so disappointed and shocked by how I was treated by the Christians that worked in this place. Unfortunately I became just like them....mean and nasty. At some point I was confronted and had to repent and ask God to forgive me and then go to alot of people to ask for their forgiveness.
If you have encountered a mean Christian more than likely they are not walking right with God. They need to deal with this stuff and get it right with both God and man.

Christians like everyone else out there have a free will. I have seen Christians and non-Christians alike preach very piously to your face and go out and act totally the opposite. They are also the first ones standing in line calling you a hypocrite, how sad it is. As to your question why? I'm not sure if even they could tell you why since some believe they are doing it in the name of righteousness, and others are just plain jerks. My 2 cents worth.

because most people only call themselves christians so that they can go to heaven when they die. those are the people that even jesus didnt like. hypocrites. unfortunately everyone is mean at some point about something. the idea is to identify what it is that you struggle with and help yourself change that issue. no one can be perfect but we can remind ourselves that what we are doing is an example to the world and perhaps then we would be more careful about what we say and do. i try not to call my self a "christian" anymore because I know that while I do strive to ask myself the ever popular question.. "what would Jesus do?" I am not always a good example of how he lived his perfect ministry. All we can do is our best. I'm sorry that your experience with "christians" has been so poor.

Uhh...religion has nothing to do with being mean. There's ppl of all religions and races and whatever else who act mean. Some ppl just like to think they're better than everyone else, regardless of their other beliefs or circumstances.

It's not just Christians- lots of ppl act mean. I just think that we hold them up to a higher standard, so when they are mean we are shocked. ( Ok, I'M not shocked, but you get what I'm saying )

Because many of them think that they are superior to the rest of us. They cannot accept that a thinking human being can have a different belief to them.
Many are also conservative and therefore, just naturally mean
