Today i went to a pro shop and hit some callaways and pings because that was what i was narrowed down to for clubs. I finally got down to Callaway x-18's and ping G-5's. I both thought that they hit very nice and felt nice to hit. I just cant decide on which one to buy.

I think Ping G5 is better than X18 because I feel very easy to hit the ball long and straight with G5, but X18 has more side spin ,so it is better for a good player(under 12 handicap), if you are not a really good player and you expect to have long distance rather than control, I suggest you to buy Ping G5(as I am playing Ping G5 too and my handicap is 15).

I have the Ping G5's. I love them. The x-18's are nice but a little tougher to hit. The G5's can be fitted to you better than the x-18's in my opinion simply because that is what Ping is known for.
Either way you will be getting a great club

Get the G-5's and make darn sure they fit you before you leave the shop. What I mean by "fit" is correct lie angle, correct overall length, correct shaft flex and correct grip size. The seller should include the fitting with the price. Don't let them charge extra for fitting. By the way, there is more to fitting than that little colored dot on the clubhead. If fit properly to your swing, then you will love those Pings. Otherwise, you will develop a nasty hate for them and later you will feel that you were ripped off. Without a doubt I would go with the Pings if those were my two choices.

I golf all the time, and i have both callaways and pings, and the pings always do better for me! So i would go with the pings, myself

Since you've narrowed it down to 2 clubs and you hit both well then there are two things you should ask yourself.

1. When you set up to the ball, which one is more aesthetically pleasing to look at? Which one has the set up that you feel more confident with?

2. If the answer to #1 is "they're both the same" then get the one that's least expensive. Both of them on great clubs so either one would be good set to play with.

I have had several sets of Ping irons... (never the G5's) but I have hit them.... Ping is by far the better club maker... When it comes to making drivers, maybe I give the edge to Calloway... But irons and putters, PING may be arguably, the best there is...

In my opinion, I have always preferred Ping. For me, they were more forgiving. But I have not purchased a new set in 4 years, so I can't help with the comparison between those two specific models.

I play X-18's and love them. I think it's all preference and feel. if they feel good and you like them more than the pings buy them.
