I've read that Paxil is more dangerous than Zoloft, but all anti-depressants can mess you up even more than you already are. I was thinking of getting a prescription for one until I read several articles & books on the subject and decided against it. I'm doing just fine now! :)

Not necessarily. It does help some people with depression, however it can cause mental breaks and sucidal tendancies in some people - although this is rare - if it made everyone who took it suicidal, it wouldn't be a safe drug and therefore wouldn't be prescribed to people.

Your doctor is a more appropriate person to ask this question to though if you're truly concerned about it.

Try a website like webmd - you can look up medications and their various side effects.

I haven't heard that about Zoloft before. It caused my mother to feel thirsty and gave her rapid speech. She just couldn't stop talking. After awhile she adjusted to the medication and did fine.

I suggest you discuss your concerns with a doctor if you or someone you know are taking Zoloft. You can also read up on the medication.

ALL of the SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) drugs for depression have been given a "Black Box Warning" by the FDA because they appear to increase the risk for suicide. So, yes, what you heard is true.

People who take almost any anti-depressant are at a slightly (remember the slightly) increased risk of suicide. It is theorized that some who are intent on suicide do not have the iniative or energy to commit suicide until the anti-depressant gets in their system. With newfound energy, they are able to complete their plans.
