I am a healthcare provider and I cannot tell you the amount if situations I have encountered w/ illegals needing medications, housing, supplies ..etc my thing is we have people born in this country w/ the same needs shouldn't we take care of them first ? And if America is so bad, as per some immigrants, why are they all killing themselves to get over here?

I see your frustration . I too worked with those who needed benefits for health care. You meet many good poor people who need help and when you can help it doesn't matter what race they are. But our programs are geared more to foreigners (they are alone from family here, lack education, need help) than Our Own--who do suffer and can not use programs because they don't qualify. Its a point system and foreigners get some just because we allow minorities extra points (which has merit). I agree those here are the overlooked and I do feel they should be first. What Mother doesn't protect her own?

I agree. I am a R.N. and have seen so many immigrants give birth in the hospital I interned at for a year before getting my degree. It's ridiculous!! At the same time some immigrant was getting a free ride to give birth and get healthcare service in the hospital ....the next room over would be an American Citizen paying for their healthcare, and child birth costs!! Let me tell you just giving birth alone is thousands of dollars, and I mean thousands!!! That's if you give birth to a baby with no health problems what - so - ever!!!! Now, a baby w/ health problem or issues ranging from minor to severe...that's exspensive and tax payers money when an immigrant gets those services for free because we cant say " NO ".

Yeah, I don't see any reason why would I pay for somebody else health care and housing. We should enlighten these people how bad America is so they would bring their health care and housing concerns when they go back to where they came from. And if they are exploited here and not paid enough they should be enlightened that it is the cause of their own actions. And I'm enlightened that these illegals should go home and they already reaped the benefits and already maximized it and stop congesting hospitals as well. And I'd loved to whack some sense of enlightenment to senate that produced that anti-American bill. Enlightenment and illegal immigration should forge together and decimate each other in turn.

This is so ignorant I barely know how to answer you.

As a "healthcare provider" you should know that you are obligated to understand culture and its function in human behavior and society, recognizing the strengths that exist in all cultures.
You also should be working to expand choice and opportunity for all people, with special regard for vulnerable, disadvantaged, oppressed, and exploited people and groups. So-called "immigrants" are such a group. These people are fleeing a situation which is unlivable (do you think they just want to leave thier homes and families c'mon) and coming here to work. They are simultaneously EXPLOITED by the employers who are undercutting American labor forces by driving down the wages of such workers.

Heathcare is a human right not something that you can deprive people based on their race or culture. It takes some major discipline on your part to be discriminatory in such a way.

Why not try to talk to some "immigrants" yourself about why they are "killing themselves to get over here" the story you will surely hear will more than likely make you feel quite stupid about posting such a bigoted question here.

Learn and then act accordingly. Stop being so god-damn self centered.

Your placing the blame on the wrong people. Blame the damned idiot politicians in DC where the blame should be. Instead of preparing the immigrant and placing them in a place to learn the basics of the American way(s) they just bring them in and the immigrant is forced to do it on their own. We're facing a lose - lose situation this way on both sides of the fence. Try going to the countrys where they came from and see if you could do the same there. I don't think so. Start showing alittle respect for these people and show them the American way. Help teach them the right ways and you'll undoubtably have gainrd a new friend and neighbor you can be proud to have helped.

I live in Canada and see some of the same things. Many of the immigrants who come here end up on welfare. So I get to support my family plus someone else's. I don't expect actual refugees (from very violent countries) to be turned away. I feel we should help these people. But I'm tired of people coming over here for a better life and expecting our government (paid for with my tax dollars) to support them. I'd rather the government make it easier and cheaper for me to raise my own kids.

As for Americans being so bad, I don't think Americans are any worse than other nationalities. We have bigots and violent people up here too. Some people just want a free ride and expect someone else to support them.

That is the mystery in life. Why do we do anything stupid... but of couse this will continue forever because people are just naturally stupid like that. It was never their land in the first place, it was the Native Americans, although part of Texas was, but its the same for almost every country in the world. I mean someone could claim that a bunch of Vikings illegally came to England and took over but if the law wasn't set up then, it doesn't matter. Now of course it's illegal.

It does irk me sometimes that the "johnny come lately's" as I sometimes call them are given so much attention while people who were born here are literally dying for lack of adequate health care. I think of myself as a very compassionate man and I would not advocate neglecting anyone but my God what about the people who are here and working hard and still have little? I find it ironic that some of the people who get the best care have the most complaints. Granted this country isn't perfect but we must be doing something right since so many want to be here. And for God sake, please learn to speak English. I don't mean any harm, I truly don't but as the old saying goes "when in Rome..."

because once in this country they have the same rights as we do. freedom of speech being one of them. i personally dont think they (immigrants) should have any american rights as they are not citizens and yes we should take care of our own first but because we work here legally we have to provide all the documentation concerning our job earnings. some, according to the income support division make too much money and therefore denied assistance. illegal immigrants dont make much income and so they get alot of assistance. that bothers me a great deal. i personally know people who have been given a very hard time by the welfare system. this is my opinion on this subject: gather them up and send them back to their own country. dont get me wrong ok..im not white/black and im not being racist. the fact is that we have too many people in this country that dont belong here and they need to GO! by the way im mexican american. my family has always been on this land. sorry for going on for so long, but this subject really irritates the crap out of me. send them all back...

Well the obvious answer is because the situation is worse in their country. That does not make it right for them to violate our laws and then complain about our country and its services; but lets face it. The reality of the circumstances are the left minded political base of this country wants 12 million new voters and is playing every race card they can to get them.
