My boyfriend is Protestant and he usually evades the question because he hates it when we "argue" (I think it's a healthy debate) about religion. Plus, his parents were the super fundamentalist type when he was growing up, so now he's.....rebelling I guess? I don't know. He just doesn't like to talk about it. So....someone, please...tell me what's up.

I'm sorry to tell you this: but all protestants follow the Catholic Religion.
"And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."= Rev.17:5

"...and all the world wondered after the beast." = Rev.13:3.
***(Notes: Dan.7:25; 8:12.)***

Many Sunday Denominations believe like the Catholic:
Sunday Observance, Pagan Days, Going to Heaven, Trinity, Jesus's Death Friday and Resurrection Sunday

SDA believe like the Catholic:
Pagan Days, Trinity, Going to Heaven, Jesus's Death Friday and Resurrection Sunday
**They do believe in the Sabbath and Clean/Unclean Meats and no wearing Jewelry.

Other Sabbath Churches believe like the Catholic:
1 or more Catholic Doctrines.
**Some don't believe in the Pagan Feasts.
**Most keep the Sabbath Saturday and the Sabbath Feast Days and Clean/Unclean Meats.
**Some don't keep the Clean/Unclean Meats.
**Some also use the Roman Calendar or guess the dates of the Sabbath Feasts.
**Being on earth, Jesus's Death Wednesday and Resurrection Saturday Evening, No Trinity & No Birthdays, no wearing jewelry.
I believe probably some keep birthdays as the Catholic Church.

Jehovah Witnesses believe like the Catholic:
Jesus's Death Friday and Resurrection Sunday.
**No Pagan Feasts & No Birthdays
@no trinity ( concept of Jesus different)
@no blood transfusions

They are Christians.

They aren't Catholics, nor are they strict Orthodox. Most of your small Protestant churches are very basic and have similar services, which include a worship service (mostly singing together) giving testiment (which may just be someone singing solo, playing a piano/instrument, or a person wanting to share something). Then the pastor has his sermon.

I've been to several different churches, some evangelical with people whipping their hands in the air and calling out "Amen", and others where people break out in 'tongues'. My church is very basic...no tongues or ranting and raving, but you will see people raising their hands towards heaven. We get the occasional 'Amen' shouted towards the pulpit too.

Protestantism is one of three primary branches of Christianity. The term "Protestant" represents a diverse range of theological and social perspectives, denominations, individuals, and related organizations. While no particular belief or practice can be said to define this branch of Christianity (indeed, its most commonly given definition is merely "any Christian denomination which is not Roman Catholic or Orthodox Christian"), those denominations considered to be well within the realm of Protestantism all have firm roots in the Protestant Reformation in Europe during the sixteenth century.

Protestant really means protest and refers mostly to the church of England. Originally they protested the pope. They are supposedly anti-catholic. But the Anglican (COE) is very much like the catholic church. The main difference is that instead of a pope they have a king or today a queen. They have an arch -bishop, but he is appointed by the monarch.
There are other non-catholic christian churches that are not considered protestant, like Baptist.

Various protestent denominations believe different things. To get a overview, I would google protestant or try to find out what denomination his parents are and check it out on the web. He obviously won't tell you.

These are the "battle cries", you can say, of Protestantism, the things that led to our separation from Roman Catholics:

1)FAITH ALONE. We are saved by faith alone, not by faith and works

2)GRACE ALONE. It is by the grace of God we are saved not by our own goodness.

3)SCRIPTURE ALONE. The Bible is our only rule of faith. Not the Bible and the traditions of man.

4)CHRIST ALONE. It is the work of Christ on the cross that saves us. There's nothing we can do to add to our salvation.

5)TO GOD ALONE BE THE GLORY. Salvation is of God, He alone deserves all the glory and is, therefore, worthy of all praise.

Sola Fide, Sola Gratia, Sola Scriptura, Solo Christ, Soli deo gloria.
