She is 12 years old and one of her hind legs shakes when she is standing and not moving. Even when holding it in place it still shakes. What is wrong and what should I do about it? I love this dog to much for her to be in pain or something like that....

If she's a terrier, she likely has a sort of palsy that they all seem to get when they get old. It's kind of like Parkinson's. It doesn't hurt them; it just looks uncomfortable. Arthritis can cause joint paint, but not shaking or tremors.

At 12 years old it's likely the dog does have arthritis. Many dogs do have it and also diabetes.

Have your vet check the dog over, and ask him to recommend something to help ease the pain. Just like people, there is only so much we can do about the disease or the pain. Just keep giving her lots of love and attention......I know it helps.

At an old age dog can get arthritis. My grandma's dog is 16 and she has really bad arthritus. I know your dog is in pain, and you don't want her to be, but it's natural. See your local vet for an asprin perscription, but it would be a good idea to stay away from pharmacies.

Hope this helps!

She could have arthritis. But the only one that can tell you for sure is your vet. You shouldn't give your dog asprin unless the vet instructs you to. They might also prescribe a joint formula that might help. The only way to be sure is to take x ray pictures.

you need to take you dog to the vet... if it is a larger dog I am sorry to say it is prolly a little worse than just artrits..... it might be hip diplaysa... meaning it is only going to get worse and you might have to eventualy put them down......your dog is in great pain and if you were hurting as bad you woulda done gone to the doctor. I am sorry to tell you this but a good exam by a vet can tell you how bad it is and what your options are..... good luck and please take them to the vet.

DONT GIVE ASPRIN TILL YOU DEE YOUR VET>>>> is very dangerous unless closly supervised

Take her to the vet. It may be arthritis, or a pinched nerve or a slipped disc (yes, dogs can slip discs too). They can better tell you what is going on. Believe it or not (for a price) acupuncture is available for dogs. Depending on the vet's diagnosis, you can look into that.

I do not know what kind of dog you have but large dogs like golden retrievers are prone to arthritis. I am not sure about the symptoms you describe. check this site.

Given her age, it would be a good idea to see a Vet.

she could have arthritis or Parkinson's-yes, even in dogs. Give her one aspirin tab and see if that doesn't help
