It could depend on how old you are. If you are 15 years old for example and you don't wanna go..... T.S. your parents make your decisions for you. If your 25, I can see why you don't want to be told what to do.... or maybe its not actually criticism, but people who care about you that don't want you to miss out on something great.

They should not be criticizing you. Scripture clearly shows not to forsake the gathering of fellowship. In bible times the word "church" or in other translations "congregation" is meant to address the people, that THEY are the church & congregation, but they need to meet somewhere. Maybe what you should look for is a church that is bible based & not so new age.
Or if you insist on not attending churches at least you can go here at this website for DVD sermons from this SoundDoctrine church & watch him teach in your own home until God directs you otherwise. www.carriedcross.org
Godbless.

I guess they want you to discover God.
However, "church" isn't always the right place to start...If you are a Christian though, church is the place to grow...
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Hebrews 10: 25 (NIV)
sorry to hear you feel like your friends are harrassing you; I'll pray for you.
God Bless.

Some people think that by constantly bugging you about your inactivity, they can get you to go in order to shut them up. If you wait it out, they'll eventually stop trying. It can take a while though. After I left the LDS church, it took almost 3 years for people to shut up about it.

Ministers are constantly trying to save sinners and they tell their congregations to do the same. The bottom line more folks in church the larger the tith or offering.

Ok...just like high school peer pressure...people want you to do what they do. Whether it's because they think you'll benefit from it or perhaps misery just loves company.
I consider myself to be classified as: "Spiritual without a Speciffic Denomination." I'm a recovering catholic. So..tons of scars and baggage there. Woo hoo!

I don't know why people like to critisize other people for not going to church. I know many good Christians that avoid church like the plague....nothing wrong with it.

You are already in hell. You are in the fires of the free spirit and many have perished in these holy scriptures to the unending thirst of salvation. You are healed. Doubt not the nature of how I bring this about. I can use forces that are so not apart of me.

Stay out of church, they are trying to destroy your soul just like they have theirs.
Below is an anti-church / pro-God website you may enjoy.
