My 4 year old cat has been sneezing a lot since yesterday. She's never done this before. She is an indoor cat. Is it possible that she has a cold?
If so, are my other two cats and my dog at risk of catching it?
Can people catch a "kitty cold"?

Yes, she's been vaccinated.
We have a lot of flowers in our backyard, and our dog likes to run around in them.
This time of year, she sneezes a lot, and we think its just all of the pollen she's getting in.
My mom thinks my kitty is just sneezing because of the pollen!

Is she vaccinated?
We normally tend to think that indoor cats are inmune to illness, but the truth is, they are just as suceptible as an outdoor cat because we can bring the problem in the house on our clothes and shoes, as well as if we have dogs that share the living space with our cats that go outside, especially if we take our dog to parks or other places where wild or stray animals may roam.
Sneezing in cats is usually associated with respiratory infections, it´s a reflex action brought on by irritation to the nasal passages. A response from the immune system.
Things to look for:
Nasal discharge (clear, yellow, green, brown, sticky, runny), fever, breathing problems, nasal or eye discharge (same as above), coughing. Blood, depresion, change in kitty box habits, lack of appetite, drinking too much water and not eating or being very picky as to what she will eat. Change in personality.
Possible causes:
Bacterial or fungal infection of the nostrils or sinuses.
Viral disease
Allergic reaction
Nasal tumor
Treatment
Take her to the vet for a physical examination and rutine lab work. DO NOT TRY TO MEDICATE yourself, this will interfer with a proper diagnostic, cats are very delcate when it comes to drugs so don´t try to give her anything your vet hasn´t Rx.. Make sure to give him/her as much information as posible.
It is not a bad idea to have all of your kitties seen by the doc. It´s recomended that they get a physical at least once a year. Ask your vet if he/she has special discounts if you bring all in at the same time.
Usually dogs and cats don´t share illness, except for certain parasites, fungus, viruses like rabies, etc., but if your concerned or you dog is showing sympthoms ask your vet for a consult, it too should see it´s Doc at least once a year for a rutine physical.
As far as people getting sick, well there has been some debate on the subject, as far as respiratory illness. On parasitic, it is well documented that they can be transmited to man, like toxoplasmosis for example, very dangerous for women in child bearing years. Always have your vet run simple tests to rule this out and wear gloves when changing the kitty litter.
I hope this might help. Good luck.

The possibilities are virtually either a allergy, cold, or upper respiratory infection or something else. But for your peace of mind and the health and well being for your cat, take him or her to the vet to be sure just what it may have. It wouldn't hurt to take your other cats too to the vet as well. I personally have never known of a dog or human to contract the same illness that a cat has. Cats yes, can infect other cats, because they live together and sleep together and are of the same species.
I hope I was of some help to you and I hope your animals remain to be your constant companions and friends for many years to come! Good luck!

Your cat could have an upper respiratory infection and that can be passed to other animals. It could also be an allergy. I would suggest taking the cat to the vet.

It's most likely an allergy. If it seems like a new thing and getting excessive you may want to take her to the vet becasue it's possible that it may be something else.

probably a dust allergy or something like that. if she seems to have a discharge from her eyes or nose, you may want to take her to the vet Monday if you are really worried.
