Why would you want to provoke it? and why do you want to see it?
It's best to leave them alone that's if its doing some things that is really bad. There is a ghost in my house and all it does is walk around at night and it's not all the nights just once in a great while but anyway as long as it doesn't do anything bad it is all good. Picture this say you provoke it some way and one day late at night you get up to go to the kitchen, you get to the kitchen you turn on the lights and right in front of you you see somebody you never seen before just staring at you with their cold dark eyes. you blink your eyes and it's gone would you want something like that happen once in a while??? Hell no leave it alone

Are you nuts? If you really believe there is a ghost, (of course many people don't), then why on earth would you want to provoke it? How could this possibly have a good outcome? The Bible says there are no ghosts, because the deceased are in the grave, awaiting resurection at Judgement. The only thing you may provoke is a demon, who may possibly pretend to be a ghost...and of course, God. Don't be stupid.

I don't think it is a good idea to mess with the dead. I would consult with a psychic and see how you would go about doing such a thing. If a ghost or spirit would want to appear or make you aware that they are surrounding you... Then I am sure they would. Otherwise you should let it rest.

Provoking is so unnecessary. Treat it like the living, with respect and dignity. Ask nicely, be kind and patient. Provoking may end up opening a can of worms you wished you never did!
I have found that, being nice, gets far better results.

Not really a great idea at all. Take a look at what Saul did in the Old Testament trying to conjure up the spirit of Samuel even after forbidding anyone to go to a medium.

in my faith we frequently meditate and make offerings to gain guidence from our ancestors.
in this aspect, it's all right.
but to 'force' a ghost to appear, no thats not a good idea.
if you want guidence from ancestors, heres the basic formula:
Make freqent offerings to them. what it is depends on what kind of person they were. if you're wanting something, from say your grandfather who died before you were born or something, learn about his personality and make offerings accordingly. some people choose to make the offering in the form of an ancestral altar in their home and placing food/wine or whatever the offering is on the altar.
some people choose to take their offering outside and leave it for nature to have (like leaving sunflower seeds for a squirrel or something similar.)
and still others choose to make the offering by giving it to people in need (like donating time/money/food to a charity that has connections to the person you're wanting to contact. like if your great grandpa died of cancer, then you make a donation to a cancer fund or volunteer to cheer up cancer patients.)
after you've made offerings for awhile, start to 'pray' to the family member. talk to them. if they knew you in life, talk to them as you normally did. if they died before you were born, introduce yourself. it'll sound and feel weird at first, but after a while it becomes a lot like talking to a diary.
after that, start meditating. i dont have many hints on meditation but i'm sure you can find them all over the net.Ghosts frequent you in visions when you're meditating.

Good luck!

If it is a REAL Spirit one confronts -its most likely demonic and provoking it can be a mistake. Attacks can range from scratches to rad marks to an all out assault - and in some cases leads to demon possession.

There were seven sons of Sceva who attempted to cast out a demon in the name of Jesus - and they were not followers of Christ, maybe not even believers. But they hear Jesus cast out demons, and Paul...., and so they tried casting a demon out of a man in the name of Jesus and Paul.

The demon spoke through his host and said, "Jesus I know and Paul I know, but who are you!?" then proceeded to bite, scratch, beat and strip these men and they fled naked into the streets in terror.

No. No. No. Do not provoke them, it can be potentially dangerous! Contrary to what you may know, you absolutely must accept them if you want to see them 'active'.
