Just wondering why you have to ask this question? At any rate you will only antagonize the dog by hitting it and possibly frighten it either of which will cause the dog to bite harder. I love dogs and know how to communicate with them so have never had a dog bite me hard or break my skin. Dogs are extremely perceptive and if you hate them or fear them they will see you as a threat to their or their owners safety which can prompt an attack. One of my closest friends hates dogs and he tells my of ones which have run across a camp ground to bite him. If a dog is going to bite you the military uses a specific and very easy way to kill them however I am not going to post it here with all the stupid people out there, we don't need them killing furbabies. At any rate if a dog starts to run up to you in an aggressive manner stop, turn your back to them immediately, and straighten to your full height. Do not make eye contact as this will be considered a challenge.

I just thought I would include this info.... yes you can make a dog let go by hitting it on the head but only if it is in a specific spot.... On the muzzle......just below the eyes but well above the nose..... YOu have to be very accurat because you are aiming for a nerve that if you hit it hard enough it will make the whole face go numb and will startle it into letting go....I would not however recomend this to someone that does not know what they are doing because if you miss then the fight is on.....the best response is the playdead theory.

If this dog is attacking you, do not hit it..You need to play dead. The more you fight the more it will as well, and most likely it will win.
Cover your face and head and roll onto you stomach and do not move. As hard as that will seem you must lay perfectly still!!
Hitting the dog will only make it angrier and bite down harder.

A lot of trainers suggest clamping with your fingers and thumb on the base or top of the neck. That simulates biting for a dog, which makes you the dominant dog. If it is an agressive dog or one that you don't know proceed with caution.

Probably! If you hit the dog it'll just make it madder! You should always keep a raw steak in your pocket, just in case a dog bites your arm. That way, if one does, you can wave the steak under its nose, then throw it off in one direction. The dog goes after the steak, you go off in the other direction!

I would bite you harder if you hit me on the head. Be sure to give the dog plenty of chew toys. Don't pick at him, or you'll teach him to fight.

i think it will let go if you hit it's head hard enough, but it might hurt your arm more by tearing it with the dog's teeth.
the dog will probably come back for more after that though, cause it will be mad, so i would suggest hitting it only if you are a fast runner.

more then likely it will bite harder because he's trying to stay hooked to the arm.

If you are being attacked and bitten, you should gouge the eyes. This will cause the dog to let go.
