Perhaps September 11, 2001 was a new Vietnan lesson to USA be more humble before the other nations on the world. What do you think about that?

One thing overlooked by most Americans is that Bin Laden stated one clear goal in his rants.. .that was - "declaration of war against the Americans occupying land of the two holy places- expel the infidels fro the arab peninsula" - Osama Bin Laden

In April of 2003 Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld announced (very quietly of course) that America was withdrawing armed troops form Saudi Arabia.

This overlooked capitulation, like Reagan in 1984 capitulating to Hizbollah by getting the Marines out of Lebanon, is proof that terrorism works...

Unfortunately, actually fighting terrorism is not on the top of the list of US priorities (stealing control over the worlds oil is) and we will be hit again, probably worse, and the people of the US are not to blame, thier requests (9-11 familes requests, 9-11 commission's suggestions) have been ignored. The "homeland security" is a joke, a way to launder money and siphon funds from the US tax payer to elites... so we are basically set up to be hurt again.

The Vietnam syndrome is still alive from, namely, Vietnam... and some of us "will never forget" and this is why we should all do everything we can t end this horrid war. Lose the machismo and admit we can't"win", save some lives, give some kid thier daddy back, instead of having that poor soul die for this stupid regime in power right now in the US and thier cronies (including Bin Laden).

peace.

What the LEADERS of the USA learned from September 11 is that all it takes is an attack on American soil by ANYONE and you can convince the people of absoloutely ANYTHING - that they should sign away their own rights, that they'll think it's ok to go and make war with whoever you tell them had something to do with the attack, that you can pass absolutely any policy in the name of security and the people will swallow it whole.

America learned nothing from Vietnam, (apart from better control of where the cameras are pointing) and it'll learn nothing from Iraq. Bush, in the space of a year, turned America into the most dangerous, the most feared and the most hated country in the world - inviting even more attacks - nope, I would say America didn't learn a damn thing apart from they are no longer immune to terrorist attacks.

I think we learned that we are not as safe as we thought. However, I don't think most Americans take it seriously. About the Humble part, I think we have always been good to other countries. Anytime there has been a crisis in any country we always come to the aide, with food, money, medical, help, whatever they need we are always there, so how much humble do you think we should be exactly. We help the world daily and then get kicked in the *** for it.

No, the USS Cole and Beirut barracks were the lesson to be humble. Sep 11 was the punishment for not following up on the lesson.

Right, right. Yes, the U.S. needs to be more diplomatic in it's dealings with the rest of the world, that's been pretty apparent for a while, but you're belittling the deaths of thousands of people and making your point in the wrong way.

Your question was neither thought provoking or shocking. It just made me roll my eyes when I read it.

'Vietnan lesson'? That's a new one, to me. I think it does make a person think... You're only as strong as your weakest link.

I think it is a stupid question with a dumb conclusion. Being less humble that you like did not get us attacked, a madman did. If we had taken care of him sooner & permanently, it may never have happened.

Hopefully we learned that you can't let the rest of the world attack you for 9 years before you do something. It only makes them bolder.
