First, you must make sure that you keep your nose clean. Start a regimine immediately. Four times a day, clean the peircing with dial soap and sea salt (This can be purchased at a local grocery store.) Do NOT touch the peircing unless you are cleaning it. Never squeeze it, since this also encourages infection. Also, make sure to keep it dry. Dry the peircing thoroughly and if the infection has spread inside your nose, dab a bit of antibacterial gel on a q-tip and gently swab the inside. Don't use a ton, since you won't want to feel like you have a bunch of snot in your nose. Do not cover the infection, as the heat and moisture will breed bacteria. It shouldn't take more than a week or two to qualm the infection. Also, you shouldn't clean it with alcohol or peroxide, since this will dry the skin out around the peircing, making it scab and harden.

However, since you took the stud out, it will probably close up and you'll have to get it repeirced. Sorry about that news, especially because you'll be needling through scar tissue now. :(

By the way, I've noticed a lot of people telling you to go to the doctor, which is also a good idea.

Well using regular items you can find at home, I can help you. As nasty it may sound or how painful it may look. Try a needle and pinch in the top and try to find a strip of opening where the hole was located. Try to open it a little and insert the earring. Try to find the hole in the outside. Now every day for the next 2 weeks apply alcohol with a small cotton ball. And at night apply cocoa butter. Whether sooth around it with the stick or lotion. Or you have other options like Vaseline. These procedures may sting but in time you'll see the difference. You may take out the earring only at night to apply the lotion or Vaseline but you have to put the earring back. This is something I did everyday when I seen my piercing getting infected. Now you can never tell the difference and I have no marks because of the cocoa butter. Well, Best Luck, and just remember that you might bleed. Had to leave that for last

I agree! Go to the doctor and have it checked. The redness could be a sign of infection. As for the bump, that is probably where the cartilage has 'healed' around the opening of the stud. Be safe, have it checked. And whatever you do, don't put that thing back in your nose!

You need to see a doctor, probably got some bacteria in the hole before it was healed or if you've had it awhile probably was an irritation that bacteria settled into. You won't be able to wear the earring for awhile until it heals. Because it's the weekend and you can't probably get in anywhere until Monday, keep the stud out, wipe the area with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. Hold warm wet washcloths against the lump, 10 minutes out of every waking hour to soften it, it might break and come out but you still need to get an antibiotic because the infection could be deeper.

i had the same when I first got my nose pierced. It is not gangrene and does not need antibiotics. I went back to the piercer and asked for advice. Don't know how bad yours it but mine was a red bump and it was sore a little. the remedy...time, salt water rinse, lots of bactine. keep the area as clean as possible and well...too late for this but if you manage to get your stud back in don't take it out again. rotate your stud so scar tissue doesn't form, red bump should disappear in a week or two. enjoy your new piercing.

Honestly, I didn't see anything wrong with your nose, it fits your face just fine. Just know that nose jobs can change a persons face dramatically sometimes. And if anything, the only reason why you might think you have a larger nose than normal is because it only appears that way because your chin is a little small. But don't add that as another problem.

The bump is inflammation from the infection. You need to put an antibiotic ointment on it to get it well before trying to put the stud back in.

Leave the stud out and let it grow back together. If the problem persists go to the doctor.

its just an infection, i've had my nose pierced for 5 years and for the first year i was steralising the stud all the time, so i never got problems, what you need to do is go to your local tatto place/piercing place, and say whats wrong, and they will tell you what you need to do, its not anything to worry about. Go to your doctor. He'll probably perscribe some antibiotics. He may do a few other things as well. Sorry for the bad day!
