Jazil wins the 138th running of the Belmont Stakes in the time of 2:27 4/5....In looking back at the Preaknes and now the Belmont Stakes, would Barbaro have won the Triple Crown..??

Your thoughts....

Well, obviously no one can tell for sure....was he capable of doing so? Yes. However, there are so many factors that it's impossible to say if he would have. The ground could have been wrong for Jazil that day, or one of them could have gotten boxed in, or bumped, or tripped, or who knows what else.

However, the way things are going I think it would have been a race between Barbaro (Barbaro of course had won the Preakness), both fighting hard to get in front, and then a photo finish....with Jazil winning by a nose....

I know the tripple crown is supposed to be hard...but for the horses sake I think that the races should be for four year olds...but that's never going to happen (to traditional of a sport, but still the best one there is).

Barbaro definitely would have won the Belmont. The form of the Derby was duplicated in the Belmont in Jazil, Bluegrasscat, and Steppenwolfer. That should tell you no one of those three really improved and ran their race. Which means Barbaro wouldve dusted the field. The Preakness is my only question. Bernardini ran a hell of a race, and it wouldve been a good battle. I'd say there is a 75% chance he would have won the Preakness, and thus the Triple Crown. But also 25% chance that it was just Bernardini's day, and may have outgamed Barbaro by a length or two.

It was the year of the 8. Barbaro was the 8 in the Derby, Bernardini was the 8 in the Preakness, and Jazil was the 8 in the Belmont. Crazy stuff!

Barbaro would have lost the Belmont. He wouldn't even have been in the top five finishers. I said way back in April that no one would touch Jazil if he ran in the Belmont and they couldn't. It was his to win this year and such it would have been regardless of Barbaro's participation.

Barbaro may have won the triple crown had he been healthy, but Jazil would have been big competition.I knew that the Belmont would be Jazil's race!!

I was thinking that I need to move closer to a racetrack again, cuz I would have made some green if I had a way to place a bet! I still say Barbaro would not have made it to first place in this race.
