Paul was an Apostle appointed by Christ After the resurrection. See the Road to Damascus. Acts 9 & 22.
the 11 apostles appointed Matthias to replace Judas by lots (acts:1;15-26)
Gentile or Jew it matters not for all who Believe upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The apostle Paul was the only apostle chosen from heaven by the Lord Jesus Christ. He was the first apostle to be given the dispensation of grace. Ephesians 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: He is the apostle of the Gentile. Today there is neither Jew nor Greek and the Apostle Paul is the one apostle that preaches the gospel of the grace of God to all people. Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. The apostle Paul was given the mysteries that werRomans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,e hid in God since before the foundation of the world.

First of all, There is no Jew or Gentile in this dispensation (era of time). ALL are saved through faith in Christ. But I think all of the apostles taught (there was no "preaching" until the Baptists came to be) the Gentiles. And Paul was appointed by God. The eleven tried to appoint Mathias, I think his name was, and God said Paul would be the twelfth, not the other guy.

Paul was not appointed by the 11 apostles he was called by Jesus in Acts 9. In Acts 15, the other apostles affirmed that that was true and agreed that he was to go to the gentiles as peter was to go to the jews. Peter visited the gentile churchs in Galatia and preached to Gentiles in Acts 10 (the house of Corneilus).
So, you also have Peter preaching to the gentiles though this was not the specific call he was set apart to.
I hope that helps.

No, Peter was the universal Christian leader in Rome for many years and was crucified there in 64 A.D. Thomas was martyred in India. Andrew preached in Greece and Russia. The apostles Jude and Simon were killed in Persia. The Apostle Bartholomew was skinned alive in Armenia. James was said to have visited Spain. All this comes from Christian Tradition from the early centuries.

Check out Acts 9:4. Paul was called to the gentiles and Peter was called to the Jews.
Keep in mind though
2Ti 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Paul never met Jesus
even he says that the only reason that he came to Christianity was because of a vision
before that Christianity was a Jewish sect that did not seek gentile converts

Enigma21 has a great answer, not much I can add to that. Just remember that John 3:16 doesn't read "For God so loved Israel", rather it reads "For God so loved the world..." Hope that helps...
