You must know someone to love them. But even with people you can see and touch, a certain amount of blind faith is necessary.
How well can you ever know another person? How can you (or they, for that matter) prove their fidelity, their truthfulness, their intentions? There's always a risk.
We don't like to think about that until we have to.
That's why so many people can't get past an affair. It is at the moment trust is broken that they realize there is no logical means of proving someone's love and devotion. You can look at behavior over time and consistency of intention and action, but there is no guarantee.
We will only love God if we know Him. We will only know Him if we have faith that He has left us with a means of knowing Him and that means can be trusted.
Love of another, even an unfaithful spouse, doesn't have to be blind in the sense that we never question how the relationship is progressing or where it's going. Love without any assessment is foolish. But it is blind in the sense that it cannot be proven without a shadow of a doubt. There is always risk.
I believe it is the same with God.
He doesn't ask that we leave our minds at the door. He does ask that we lay our hearts on the altar.
Any relationship that has the capacity to change us, asks no less of us.

Faith is not blind. It must have a working object. You can use Rationalism (logically coming to a conclusion) to accept the concept of God, but faith is the system with power to know that He is real. Rationalism will only take you so far, and Empiricism won't get you anywhere with God. These are the three system of perception.
God's existence is really obvious, I think. I knew that God existed long before I knew who He was or even really cared. Go outside and stare at an ant or a flower for a few minutes. Seriously, try it and see if you think God is or isn't. And if you think He is, then believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and God says you WILL be saved.

OK, here we go ... Maybe blind faith isn't what we need. Maybe logic is OK. Maybe you can, in a way, prove via logic that God exists. Maybe the only real problem is in how we define "God". Having said that I say this ... What I'm about to share is just my opinion. I'm not out to convert any one, and frankly couldn't care less what other people believe. I figure if YOU'RE happy with what you believe (or with what you DON'T believe for that matter) I'm happy for you. And I mean that sincerely. Now ... For ME, "God", in order to be "God", must have certain traits. Deity must ... Know everything, have all power, be everywhere present at the same time, and be eternal. For me that's what it takes for God to be God. Now the question becomes simple. Can I find a thing that has ALL those attributes??? If I can, as far as I'm concerned I've found God. And there is, I believe, ONE THING that has all that. Its the Universe as a whole. Its counting Every Thing as being One Thing. Which thing can also be scientifically proven because all things CAN be reduced to ONE thing ... E=Mc squared. Energy. (I add a side note here in reference to God/the Universe being eternal. Given the expanding and contracting nature of the Universe the thing goes on for ever. That's eternal, just in case any one was wondering.) Now, one last thing. If everything is One Thing then every thing is a part of that one thing. You and I have conciousness. Therefore I attribute to Deity conciousness. So now I've found a "God" that is a thinking, feeling, all-powerful, omnipresent, eternal Being. And it took no faith at all. Others are certainly welcome to find flaws in all of the above. That's OK. But there is one thing I can attest to ... Believing the above, along with things that naturally develop from it, has kept me happy and centered for years. I think THAT'S a pretty good testimony for the truth. lol ~ Peace & Blessings ~

God doesn't require blind faith. He does require more than logic. Logic is a function of the mind. Faith is a function of the spirit. It may be informed by logic, choice, or emotion. It is not dependent on any of them.
Computers operate purely on logic, yet they are incomplete when compared with humans. Love is not a logical, scientific concept. Yet it exists. Family is not a scientific concept, yet it exists. I point these two out to say that logic is useful but not all sufficient.

Logically when you try to think of certain concepts it becomes too overwhelming. For example:
Where did God come from? If God always existed then there was no beginning so how did we come to today when logically the infinity of the backwards timeline would prevent today from ever starting.
How can God know what 6 billion people are thinking at all times and care about each and every one?

This is a very interesting question. The phrase blind faith implies that God wants us to remain ignorant. God created us as spirit, soul and body, and in this trio exists our brains. He knows that we are going to think about Him. If we didn't this question wouldn't have been asked. However, God is spirit and he speaks to us in our spirits. Our minds are bombarded with all kinds of things from this world that are contrary to who God is. There are times we question what is true and what is not. So, faith is necessary in order to have a relationship with God until what he is speaking to our spirit is revealed to our mind.

Blind faith in God isn't a choice it's a necessity for theists as there is no tangible evidence to suggest that any such God really exists.

logicaly we MUST accept GOD...... just look around you... the complexity of it all while at the same time being eligantly simplistic... where did it all come from and why? the question is not is there a GOD, but rather "what or who is GOD".... at the very least... "mother nature" .people who dont believe in GOD are those who dont want to be restricted buy the "laws" that GOD may impose...... but this is as futile as it is foolish because the laws of GOD are as stead fast as the laws of physics or "mother nature" whether one choose to be bound by them or not........sorry i'm not answering your question as asked but i never see it as "blind faith" the existence of GOD is obvious to those who are willing to "see the forest for the trees". it dont take faith at all...just open your eyes its all there in front of us.

YOU can't LOGICALLY understand the existance of GOD because, for one, HE live's in the Spiritual REAM which is invisible to us in the Physical REALM. Can't see'm.!!!!!! Not that HE's hiding, just can't see'm!!!! What's to prove???? You can't see Angels around you either, can't prove them!!!!! Nope, can't do it, I can't........and if you could SEE into the Spiritual REALM, you wouldn't see the FATHER or JESUS either.!!! There on a planet(third HEAVEN) very far from here. YOU might be able to see the HOLY SPIRIT, if HE would let you!!!!Yea, even in the Spiritual REALM, GOD controlls everything!!!!!!! And in the Physical REALM, GOD controlls what you and HIM team-up to LET HIM CONTROLL, cause we (Human Being's) have complete AUTHORITY over this MESS ( the messed up CREATION, Earth and Star System) till the CONTRACT is UP!!!!!!!

A very good question, one I have asked myself many a time. I hope we both can find a good answer. I am totally dumbfounded as why we can't given all the scientific and psychological evidence available. To me, it is completely evident that logical man does not want to believe. I believe. I think. I love.
