Hi Candy

Sometimes it's too late after you have symptoms but sometimes not, it depends on the kind and stage, and if you respond to chemo and other treatments or not. My father has a friend with lung cancer, liver cancer and it's now in the pancreas, he's still here after being diagnosed as terminally ill with 6 months, that was 8 years ago. He gets maintenance chemo and is still going strong.

You have to learn all you can and keep up to date on clinical trials and new drugs/discoveries. Eat right, get alot of sleep, keep a positive attitude but realistic one, live each day one day at a time.

I'm a cancer survivor as well, not lung but I do know you are probably scared as heck right now. If you need to talk email me.

go to www.cancer.org for honest statistics on all cancer stuff. and no, symptoms don't come too late, it depends on where the tumor is and what stage it's at, if the tumor can be targetted with radiation and/or chemo, and it has not spread to other parts of the body, the chances are good it can be cured completely.
