Well, I can tell you what a fruitcake is NOT.
It is NOT something that you want to send to someone you're having problems with as a peace offering.
I worked at the US Embassy in Greece and one year our office asked one of the middle managers to select Christmas gifts to send to the other embassies in Athens. This lunatic chose to order fruitcakes from some horrible catalog. And so, the Embassy of Iraq chose to just return the horrid fruitcake to us instead of just "re-gifting" it, like the Brits probably did.

Fruitcake is really bad-tasting, heavy cake made of dried or candied fruit cakes and nuts that are soaked in root beer or barbeque sauce, often used in the celebration of weddings and Christmas.

The Fig Newton (in Europe, a Fig Roll) is a soft, cake-like cookie filled with fig jam. These taste much better.

well instead of cookie form with fig filling it is a cake I hope you know what a cake is if so then fruit cake has dozens of other fruits,and nuts in it.

fruitcake, is usually expensive, because it made with dryed canndied fruit, and nuts. put into a batter.usually if you make it your self, you then soak it with cheese cloth and add rum to it before the hollidays.
