It is caused by a virus that you will likely have for the rest of your life, but just like Chicken Pox,etc, there will be a time it is dormant and no longer effect you. The only problem is that once your nerves and muscles that have been affected regain their sensation or movement, some time may be needed to completely rehab them. In other words, ther is non clear answer as to how long you'll be affected by a palsy.

My nephew was diagnosed with Bells Palsy at age 14. His symptoms were that one side of his face "fell." I describe it as he looked like he'd had a stroke and one side of his face was paralyzed. It went away after a few weeks, and has not reoccurred. He was not prescribed anything, but was sent for some testing to rule out other possibilities.

Bells Palsy is a condition of cranial nerve VII (facial). The common signs are drooping of one side of the face and eyelid, loss of sensation (parasthesia), loss of muscle tone on the side of the droopy face. Go see a chiropractor b/c they perform miracles on that condition. The facial nerve arrises from the base of the pons in the brainstem and upper cervical adjustments have been documented and proven to alleviate and even eliminate that condition. Once again, go see a CHIROPRACTOR!!!!
