I say yes. I use them with my yorkie.. Little dogs just never have the potty training down 100%.. You can also teach it to use a doggy litter box, there are some great sites on how to do that.. look up canine litter box training..

Wow some people are so judging. There is nothing wrong with training a pet to go inside, and then training to go outside. It especially comes in handy for apartment dwellers and boaters. Not like they can just hop off the boat..

Dog training pads are a great tool especially if you work 8 hours a day or unable to get the dog outside as often as you like.

We have a chihuahua who is too prissy to go outside so we've trained him to use puppy pads. They are great as long as you remember to change them and take the trash out frequently, since the dog can be attracted to the smell of the garbage and pee by it instead of the pads.

When you have a very small toy type dog, it is difficult to train them to go outside. To begin with, they have to go more often than the larger dogs. I find the piddle pads work best with my Maltese because he is such a big baby he won't go out if it is cold or raining. If it is dark outside I worry about other animals getting him. I feel safer with the pads.
He poops and pees so small that is hardly worth running him to the door. Big dogs poop and pee big stuff, the tiny guys don't.
If I had a large dog I would train him to go outside too.

I would only suggest pee pads if you have to keep the dog indoors, eg. Appartment or Condo. THe best thing to do with any dog, big or small is to train your dog to go to the bathroom outside. I live in the south and the weather allows us to be able to take ours outside all the time....i myself prefer to teach them to go outside.....a lot of times they will miss the pads and some never learn to use them at all.......

They work fantastic.
So does the spray which attracts the pet to paper or litter box. We just trained an adult dog using those.

Thank god I have big dogs that go outside. I will never understand why people get dogs and then want to more or less change it's diaper. If it has 4 legs, it should go outside and go like other dogs!!!!!!!
