Treat Infamy is right, it does depend on what you are shooting. I use colour film for my day to day photographs but recently used B & W to take some awesome photo's of my two babies. They look so naive and innocent. They turned out great and I don't feel I would have gotten the same result or quality from colour film. They both have their purpose and I guess the choice is personal preference. Happy snapping!!

Black and White

Black and white adds more of the dramatic effect since people focus more on the actors' expressions rather than the scenery and etc. Color makes it easier to see things and notice the actors' expressions so it really depends on what you are doing...

Black and White catchs a lot that colour doe not and vice versa. If I was trying to convey feelings of sadness, romance, anger or elation (A still basically), I would choose black and white. For action pictures, or memories (life events like parties and dances) I would definately choose colour.

i only work with digital equipment. For the choice of color vs B/W, it depends on the scene I want to shoot. If you're not sure, do it in color, and transform it with the camera itself in B/W as a new file, then decide on the result.

color can obviously be more attractive, but for getting certain points across, B&W is necessary. As to what i prefer, it would have to be color, because it allows different things to stand out better, and become more visible to the human eye.

I prefer color because it shows more details in the movie.

I prefeer black and white photos if you are photographing picture of people because it show the specialty and wealthiness of the picture. But if you are photographing scnery i would preefer color pictures to show compact and season of the sceen. Those are just my opion but i hope this helps and answers your question.
