You pose an interesting question, though it’s a little peculiar. If “white people” took the Native’s land, it seems that they would have the best understanding of the consequences that “taking” land leads to. Thus, your question actually answers itself. “White people’s” fear would logically follow from an understanding of the consequences that may come about.

With that said, I’d like to make a few other quick points. You repeatedly used the term “white people”, and it seems that you are trying to suggest this is a “white person” issue. That’s completely unfounded. For one, there are plenty of Americans of all skin colors and cultures that oppose illegal immigration, to include Americans of Mexican ancestry. Also, most “white” Americans oppose all illegal immigration, including illegal immigrants from “white” European nations. So this is not an issue of color at all, and I hope that you can see that.

You also mention in your comments that “white people” took the land from the Native’s but you fail to mention that so did other countries. First Spain “took” it, and then later Mexico “took” it. You say that California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas belonged to them, but you fail to mention that Mexico actually “took” these areas from the “Natives” first. This further shows that this has nothing to do with “white people”. In fact, with few exceptions the majority of warfare throughout all of human history has involved the “taking” of land from people who were there first. This happened in Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, and the Americas, and it usually had nothing to do with skin color. When Africans fight Africans over land, they are also “taking” the land from someone else who had it first. It shows ignorance to speak of Africa as if it were unified just because the majority of the population shares the same skin color. The same goes for every other country or civilization throughout history. The “Natives” fought other “Natives” and “took” the land. What makes you think that a given “Native” tribe didn’t take the land from other “Natives” at some point in history? We know that warring tribes did this all of the time. The color designation is completely irrelevant and is therefore inappropriate.

One last point is that most Americans, including “white people”, have no problem with people coming to the U.S. legally. The issue revolves around legal entry into the country, and has nothing to do with the ethnic background of the person. The United States has the right to control its borders. Indeed, it must control its borders. The Mexicans that want to come to the United States usually want to come to get a job. However, if there were no controls on the number of people who could come into the United States there would be tragic consequences. Do you think that if ten million Mexicans came to the United States next month that the U.S. economy would be able to support them? All of the people working in lower income jobs would end up suffering because of simple supply and demand labor economics. The more workers that there are the less they need to be paid. So it makes sense for “white people” as well as every single other American to oppose illegal immigration. Tens of thousands of people of Mexican ancestry come to the U.S. legally every year, and we’re happy to have them.

This question is very racist. And a bunch of people in the United States do not want illegal immigration- whether they are white or hispanic or anything.

Things in life come back? Thats funny because americans took mexican's lands in the 1800s. How is this something that "we" did? And may be you should considering giving the land back to the natives once you "take it over" because you stole it from them in the first place.

Texas rebelled from them, when did america invade that land and take it? The Tejanos and americans there rebelled against the dictatorship.

United states bought western USA for 15 million dollars from mexico and Mexico agreed to it after the mexican-american war. It was won/bought fairly. There were hardly any mexicans living there also.

Mexicans/spanish took the natives lands too.

What do you consider native? You don't know who was there before the Indians, and if there was someone there, did they exterminate them? This whole native thing is stupid since history only goes back so far. For all you know there could have been a totally different race of people here. "Since we have no remains of these first people, we have no idea what their physical characteristics were. In general, anthropologists and scientists believe that they were among the ancestors of the Mongoloid people, but to state this relationship positively is to overstate the evidence." "Whenever, the consensus is that they came from Asia by way of a northern land bridge that once connected Siberia and Alaska." This is called Beringia. My point? No one knows the race of people who "got here first" so again, what exactly is a native? Were there Asian cavemen and African cavemen and white cavemen and hispanic cavemen? Pahlease...

Current white people are more informed than they were 500 to 50 years ago. We are now more politicly correct. My ancestors came over through Ellis Island, the immagration port of that time, and followed the laws and earned their citizenship. They didn't take anyones land. Mexicans want to enjoy the rights of being a U.S. Citizen they should earn it. To speed up the proccess they should defend this great country for 4 years in our army then get citizenship. Oh, bye the way we are not scared it took 20,000 Mexicans to beat 300 AMERICANS at the Alamo.

" REMEMBER THE ALAMO"

What about me?
I am native American? Guess I'll just move to another country....lol

I don't think anyone is scared of people coming into our country. The problem is when you come here you are suppose to learn to speak English and become a American citizen in every way. When the Irish came they got treated like CRAP! It happens every time any culture comes in. Just the way it is.
You can't go some where's and try to change what people have been doing all along. Like having things written in Spanish in the USA is silly. I get notes from the school in English and Spanish??
But NO the US isn't scared of the Mexicans.

I want the Mexicans to come over here legally!!!
I'm enjoying the food.

Any land that belonged to Mexicans before the GOVERNMENT changed to the US government STILL owned their land. Land titles were recognized at that time and is one of the reasons that the transition went so smoothly, don't confuse the land over which the government makes the rules and laws, with land ownership which is the right of the landowner to use and enjoy his property. Private landowners did not lose their land if they held title from Mexico.

these lands.
the difference between the indians and the Mexicans is that the north American Native people are so few ,
most of them were wiped out.
in Mexico the Natives and the Mexicans are one Nation .
and there are 120.000.000 of them .

It doesn't matter what happened in the past it is the lessons we have learned from the past that matter and we happen to be using those lessons in modern days just like every other civilization has done before us.

I think that for some reason whenever white people come somewhere they feel like they are entitled to something it is like some kind of genetic defect.

Why didnt the indians bring this country to World power such as the white man did? We obviously made it so good EVERYONE wants to live here now. Why we took it from the Indians...who knows, its in the past, I had nothing to do with it. Illegals are starting to feel the heat of all their "law breaking". No more free rides for them....I cant wait to watch it all unfold and I WILL HAVING SOMTHING TO DO WITH THAT!
