I agree with Allie. Excess or long-term laxative use can be dangerous, especially with someone who has other medical problems that risk can be increased with the use of laxatives. Furthermore, you end up losing more fluids (water) than anything else which can cause problems within itself such as lowering your blood pressure too much which can lead to tiredness, dizziness, fainting, vomiting, and muscle weakness (due to electrolyte imbalance which is a very delicate system that directly or indirectly control all functions of the body). As for your body, the major electrolytes are as follows:
sodium (Na+)
potassium (K+)
chloride (Cl-)
calcium (Ca2+)
magnesium (Mg2+)
bicarbonate (HCO3-)
phosphate (PO42-)
sulfate (SO42-)

Electrolytes are important because they are what your cells (especially nerve, heart, muscle) use to maintain voltages across their cell membranes and to carry electrical impulses (nerve impulses, muscle contractions) across themselves and to other cells. Your kidneys work to keep the electrolyte concentrations in your blood constant despite changes in your body.

Not only that, improperly laxative use can eventually make your colon lazy, which means you won't be able to "go" on your own without the use of more laxatives. In other words, your body becomes dependent on laxative use and then you can't function normally without it. I suggest you find another way to lose weight; preferably with a sensible diet and exercise.

You don't lose fat with laxatives you lose water weight. Laxatives work by contracting the muscles in your colon to move the waste out of the body. It also secretes water from outside the colon to the inside to make the waste softer. Stool softeners also do this. Honey, believe me they don't work. I used to binge eat and I would purge by taking laxatives, sometimes a whole box at one time. I never lost one pound in fact I gained 30 pounds. Plus the laxatives really messed me up. To save you the gross details I say this I'm not regular. Hoped this helped. Oh and another thing... they don't make you lose weight because the food makes it all the way through your system before it hits the colon. All the nutrients and calories have already been absorbed.

Yes you can loose weight with it. But its not always a good idea. Every time you take a laxative is going to make u go to the bathroom.... well that's the point. the thing is that every time u use it what ever nutrients and vitamins you just had is also going to come out along with the fatty stuff.

Laxatives won't help you lose weight, only fecal matter and possibly some water. They won't lead to you losing any fat, because they only cause you to evacuate matter that has already been digested.

You are venturing into very dangerous territory. Not only are laxatives addicting (really), but "going" so much can dehydrate you, and cause health problems. Please talk about this with a health professional.

It's like bulimia. Once they eat, the poop it all out. It's stupid. If you want to get fit, try exercising.
