You need to be consistent... doing one once in a while is the toughest. Try to do at least 3 in a row for your body to get into the night rhythm. Some people try melatonin pills to help them get adjusted. Good luck.

I used to work night shift, for 5 years continuously and I know the meaning of "night shift"! I was all the time trying to get enough rest during the day, I was trying to sleep around 10 hours, because daylight sleep is never enough with night sleep! Anyhow, get enough rest, enough sleep and the food that you should take, it should be mostly very light one, because it will make you feel more tired and your digestive system will not work properly during the night as during the day! Drink tea or coffee, it depends which one you like, but not more than two cups during all the night and a fruit juice would be just nice for your concentration, usually cherry juice is the best for this!
Good luck and take care! :)

Well, I suggest treating the day/night just like any other day/night eat meals with friends/family as they normally occur. Supper at supper time, breakfast in the morning and so on. This helps keep things seem normal. After you get off......sleep, then plan accordingly. That way you are refreshed then wake up and do things...then report to work. I have been on nights and days and I felt better if I just keep on living and not change a thing.

Do whatever you have to do to get a lot of sleep in the daytime. You could look up the natural remedies for jet lag, and get some ideas of what you could use to help you sleep.

I would recommend Vitamin C, a good sense of observation, coffee (a lot), your own imaginary world, a blackberry, and of course the full work of metallica in loops!
